Meta Analysis Comparative StudyComparison of New Glucose-Lowering Drugs on Risk of Heart Failure in Type 2 Diabetes: A Network Meta-Analysis.
The authors conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis of placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trials in the post-Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidance era to formally compare the effects of 3 new classes of glucose-lowering drugs on hospitalization for heart failure (HF) in type 2 diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Current evidence suggests that SGLT-2 inhibitors are more effective than either GLP-1 agonists or DPP-4 inhibitors for reducing the risk of hospitalization for HF in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Meta AnalysisAmbulatory Inotrope Infusions in Advanced Heart Failure: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
This study sought to systematically review the available evidence of risks and benefits of ambulatory intravenous inotrope therapy in advanced heart failure (HF). ⋯ High-quality evidence for the risks and benefits of ambulatory inotrope infusions in advanced HF is limited, particularly when used for palliation. Available data suggest that inotrope therapy improves NYHA functional class and does not impact survival.

Review Meta AnalysisChanges of natriuretic peptides predict hospital admissions in patients with chronic heart failure: a meta-analysis.
The goal of this study was to explore the association between changes in B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) plasma levels and risk of hospital admission for heart failure (HF) worsening in patients with chronic HF. ⋯ In patients with HF, reduction of BNP or NT-proBNP levels was associated with reduced risk of hospital stay for HF worsening.
