Why Not a Podcast? Assessing Narrative Audio and Written Curricula in Obstetrical Neurology.
Medical podcasts have the potential to educate residents and fellows in specialized or uncommon disciplines, but the acceptability and benefits of educational podcasts are unclear. ⋯ Written and podcast curricula improved immediate knowledge similarly, but the narrative-style podcasts were perceived as more enjoyable by residents and fellows from several specialties, suggesting narrative podcasting can be an engaging and feasible educational alternative for trainees to acquire information.

Improvement of Immediate Performance in Neonatal Resuscitation Through Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice Training.
Simulation training is an effective method to teach neonatal resuscitation (NR), yet many pediatrics residents do not feel comfortable with NR. Rapid cycle deliberate practice (RCDP) allows the facilitator to provide debriefing throughout the session. In RCDP, participants work through the scenario multiple times, eventually reaching more complex tasks once basic elements have been mastered. ⋯ Immediately following RCDP interns had improved observed abilities and decreased time to perform critical interventions in NR simulation as compared to those trained with the simulation debriefing. RCDP was not superior in improving confidence level or retention.

Does the Flipped Classroom Improve Learning in Graduate Medical Education?
The flipped classroom model for didactic education has recently gained popularity in medical education; however, there is a paucity of performance data showing its effectiveness for knowledge gain in graduate medical education. ⋯ In this crossover study comparing a single flipped classroom module with a standard lecture, we found mixed statistical results for performance measured by multiple-choice questions. As the differences were small, the flipped classroom and lecture were essentially equivalent.
