The Effect of St. John's Wort Oil (Hypericum Perforatum L.) in Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Controlled and Qualitative Study.
Reducing pain and improving physical function are critical in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Although individuals use St. John's Wort oil to relieve pain due to osteoarthritis, no scientific research has been found investigating its effectiveness. ⋯ The results show that St. John's Wort oil helps people with knee osteoarthritis feel less pain and become physically more active. Additional research is warranted to better understand the effect of St. John's Wort oil on pain intensity and physical functions in people with knee osteoarthritis.

Pain and Satisfaction Perceptions of Ultrasound-Guided Versus Conventional Peripheral Intravenous Catheterization: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
While many emergency department (ED) patients need peripheral vascular catheterization, diagnosis and treatment are often delayed by difficult intravenous access (DIVA). ⋯ US-guided peripheral intravenous catheterization improves ED patient care, as it requires fewer catheterization attempts. It is especially recommended for patients with DIVA.

Effects of Nature-Based Multisensory Stimulation on Pain Mechanisms in Women with Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial.
The term "nature-based sensory stimuli" refers to the sensory information produced by biotic and abiotic agents from natural environments. The literature has reported the beneficial effects of these agents on various pain dimensions in non-clinical populations. ⋯ Women with fibromyalgia syndrome may benefit from multisensory stimulation using biotic and abiotic agents from natural environments for 30 minutes. Interacting with flowering plants and soil components appears to induce analgesic effects.

The Effect of Video Streaming With Virtual Reality on Anxiety and Pain During Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy Procedure.
Pain and anxiety are among the most common symptoms in patients undergoing invasive procedures. Increased pain levels tend to worsen anxiety, and anxiety often leads to more frequent or severe pain. ⋯ We determined that video streaming with VRG reduces pain and anxiety felt by adult patients during the BMAB procedure. VRG can be recommended to use in controlling pain and anxiety in patients undergoing a BMAB procedure.

Pain Catastrophizing as a Mediator Between Pain Self-Efficacy and Disease Severity in Patients with Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by chronic widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, cognitive impairment, and mood disturbance. Both pain catastrophizing and pain self-efficacy have been found to be mediators of pain treatment effectiveness. However, whether pain catastrophizing mediates the association between pain self-efficacy and FM severity remains unclear. ⋯ Pain catastrophizing independently predicts FM severity and mediates the association between pain self-efficacy and FM severity. Pain catastrophizing should be monitored through interventions aimed at improving pain self-efficacy to reduce symptom burden in patients with FM.
