This paper aims to describe models for service integration between ophthalmology and optometry when conducting outreach eye services. The effect of good coordination on clinical activity and cost-effectiveness is examined. ⋯ Coordination of eye services with better integration of ophthalmology and optometry roles may improve efficiency of services for patients. Coordination of eye services has multiple facets including facilitating engagement with the local community, eye professions and health facilities. The varied roles of eye health coordination require further definition and appropriate funding.

Phthisis bulbi is a relatively uncommon and atypical clinical presentation of retinoblastoma. ⋯ This is the largest case series of retinoblastoma patients with primary phthisis bulbi. Phthisis bulbi in retinoblastoma may be associated with bilateral disease in most cases and advanced intraocular disease in the fellow eye in a significant number of cases. Regression is incomplete in majority of these cases; therefore, enucleation must definitely be done in all cases of retinoblastoma presenting with phthisis bulbi.

Case ReportsNovel therapeutic option for orbital atypical lymphoid hyperplasia.
Ocular lymphoid tumours represent a spectrum of lymphoproliferative disease and can be subdivided into benign or reactive lymphoid hyperplasia, indeterminate or atypical lymphoid proliferations and malignant lymphoma. Treatment options include a wait and watch approach, systemic steroids, local radiotherapy or systemic chemotherapy. We describe a case of bilateral atypical lymphoid hyperplasia treated successfully with combination immunotherapy and radiotherapy. ⋯ She had extensive extraocular facial infiltrates but no other sites of involvement on staging investigations. She was treated with eight doses of rituximab 375 mg/m² at weekly intervals with a good partial response, followed by consolidative radiotherapy. Rituximab may be an effective treatment adjunct/alternative for patients with atypical lymphoid hyperplasia of the orbit, particularly where widespread lesions preclude the use of initial radiotherapy.
