Factors Affecting Smoking Initiation and Cessation Among Saudi Women Attending Smoking Cessation Clinics.
Smoking is one of the most adaptable risk behaviours associated with increased mortality rates, yet over one billion individuals worldwide are smokers. This study aimed to examine self-reported reasons for starting and quitting smoking among women attending smoking cessation clinics in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ Most Saudi women are socially-driven to start smoking, while the most common reason for quitting is health concerns. The latter finding is promising in that it shows that smokers are gaining awareness of the adverse effects of smoking.

The Ethics and Legality of Using Personal Smartphones to take Medical Photographs.
Photography in the medical profession is an asset that may help during patients' follow-up, monitoring the progression of diseases, getting a second opinion and in medical educational activities. Advances in technology, specifically smartphones, have enabled medical professionals to obtain high-quality photographs with minimal effort and photography experience. This article discusses the ethics and legality of using personal smartphones in a medical professional setting for medical photography. Written informed consent should always be obtained from the patient and should include details about how the photographs will be used.

Evaluation of Antibiotic Use Among Sepsis Patients in an Intensive Care Unit: A cross-sectional study at a referral hospital in Indonesia.
This study aimed to evaluate the appropriateness of antibiotic use and factors associated with outcomes among sepsis patients in an intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ Inappropriate doses of antibiotics, a diagnosis of septic shock and the presence of at least two comorbidities were found to significantly increase the mortality rate of sepsis patients admitted to an ICU in Indonesia.

Comparative StudyThe Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure: A prospective comparative study of undergraduate medical students' and interns' perceptions in Oman.
This study aimed to assess perceptions of the educational environment in Oman among medical undergraduate students and interns using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) tool. ⋯ Overall, medical undergraduate students and interns viewed the educational environment in Oman in a positive light. It is possible that undergraduate students' perceptions of the educational environment may become more favourable as they progress with their medical career and become interns.
