Review Case ReportsReconstruction of closed rupture of thumb flexor tendon pulleys with a single free palmaris longus tendon graft: a case report and review of literature.
Closed rupture of thumb flexor tendon pulleys is extremely rare. Several techniques have already been described for finger pulley reconstruction. Various techniques based on prior anatomic and biomedical studies have been proposed for thumb pulley reconstruction, in which one or two of the three pulleys are replaced. In the present study, we describe an original technique using a single, free palmaris longus (PL) autograft for thumb pulley reconstruction.

Review Case Reports[Compression of the superficial branch of the radial nerve by a synovial ganglion of the elbow (about one case and literature review)].
Compression of the radial nerve at the elbow is quite rare; entrapment of its superficial branch is exceptional. Extrinsic compression is the most frequent etiology. Magnetic resonance imaging plays a major role in the diagnosis, and early surgical excision or echoguided drainage - in case of synovial ganglion - allows a total recovery. The authors report the case of a compression of the superficial branch of radial nerve by an elbow synovial cyst treated by surgical resection.

Injuries to the nail complex are common in adults and children. These complex injuries often involve the paraungueal tissues, fingertip and bone. ⋯ The current state of knowledge on nail bed lacerations and defects is reviewed and compared to our own experience. Special attention is paid to nail restoration in distal amputation cases and we propose an original technique to restore nail length.

Necrotizing soft tissue infections and necrotizing fasciitis are life-threatening infections affecting the hypodermis, muscular fascia, and dermis secondarily. Mortality is high, with an average of 30%. ⋯ Adjunctive therapies may have a role, but their effectiveness remains unproven. A review of the literature allows us to highlight this multidisciplinary management.

Review[Techniques of peripheral nerves repair: evolution of the literature from 1950 to 2010].
The life expectancy of technological innovations is estimated at 50years. In medicine, these cycles were poorly studied. The purpose of this work was to study the time-evolution of publications concerning the techniques of repair of the peripheral nerves (TRPN). ⋯ In the decade 2000-2010, the literature produced as many publications on TRPN (181) as in the half-century from 1950 to 2000 (174). Conversely, the global medical literature produced twice as few publications in the decade 2000-2010 (7000000) than in the half-century 1950-2000 (13000000). Several hypotheses can be evoked: encouragement of scientific publication, the development of functional surgery, the augmentation of microsurgery education.
