Review Case ReportsAvulsion of flexor digitorum profundus secondary to enchondroma of the distal phalanx. Case report and literature review.
We report an unusual case of avulsion of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon of the ring finger at its insertion, in combination with a pathological fracture of the distal phalanx due to enchondroma. The bone lesion was curetted and grafted using autogenous bone. The FDP tendon was reattached to the distal phalanx using the pullout technique. We describe this case in detail and discuss the surgical management through a review of literature.

Review Case ReportsSubcutaneous rupture of the superficial branch of the radial nerve at the wrist. A case report and review of literature.
Isolated neuropathy of the superficial branch of the radial nerve (SBRN) is a rarely recognized pathology. It was initially described by Wartenberg in 1932. Various causes have been published. ⋯ No distal nerve stump was found. Neuroma resection was performed and the nerve was transposed and embedded into the flexor pollicis longus muscle. With a six months follow-up, the result was satisfactory.

Review Case ReportsAvulsion fracture of the extensor carpi radialis longus carpal insertion due to a basketball injury: case report and literature review.
Articular fractures of the base of the 2nd metacarpal involving the extensor carpi radialis longus insertion are unusual and poorly understood. There is no consensus as to how these fractures should be treated. We report the case of a 2nd metacarpal base fracture in a professional basketball player that was treated surgically with open reduction and internal fixation using cannulated screws. The management of this case is compared to similar cases in the literature.

The aim of this study was to describe the nature and incidence of hand injuries caused by snowblowers, as well as the accident conditions and accident prevention. We conducted a retrospective evaluation over ten consecutive winters. Nine patients were included. ⋯ All the patients were experienced snowblower users (9 years and 57th use on average). Snowblower accidents are very mutilating. Prevention must include protected access to blades and better verbal and written safety warnings.

The strategy consists of saving the life, saving the limb and retaining function. ⋯ Features of the definitive management of local casualties in battlefield medical facilities are also discussed. In this situation, reconstructive procedures have to take into account the limited resources and operational constraints.
