To evaluate novice and expert clinicians' procedural confidence utilizing a blended learning mixed fidelity simulation model when applying a standardized ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization curriculum. ⋯ The use of a standardized clinical simulation curriculum enhanced all aspects of ultrasound-guided central venous catheter insertion skills, knowledge, and improved confidence for all clinician types. Self-reported complications were reported at significantly higher rates than previously published evidence, demonstrating the need for ongoing procedural competencies. While there are growing benefits for the role of simulation-based programs, further evaluation is needed to explore its effectiveness in changing the quality of clinical outcomes within the healthcare setting.

Prevalence of idle peripherally inserted central catheters in adult patients: A multicenter cross-sectional study.
Increasing studies concern about idle vascular access devices, but still scant data on idle peripherally inserted central catheters. We aimed to assess the prevalence and risks of idle peripherally inserted central catheters in adult patients. ⋯ In conclusion, idle peripherally inserted central catheters were common in adult patients, but the low risks of catheter-related complications may justify maintaining a peripherally inserted central catheter for further observation when necessary.

Drug-coated balloon angioplasty in failing haemodialysis arteriovenous shunts: 12-month outcomes in 200 patients from the Aperto Italian registry.
We evaluated the safety and technical and clinical outcomes of angioplasty with a drug-coated balloon for the management of venous stenosis in arteriovenous grafts and arteriovenous fistulas in patients undergoing haemodialysis. ⋯ The results suggest that favourable long-term patency rates can be achieved with the drug-coated balloon in a varied population of patients with failing haemodialysis arteriovenous shunts treated under conditions of actual care.

The diagnostic value of intracavitary electrocardiogram for verifying tip position of peripherally inserted central catheters in cancer patients: A retrospective multicenter study.
To evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of intracavitary electrocardiogram for verifying tip position of peripherally inserted central catheters in cancer patients during follow-up period. ⋯ It is demonstrated in this retrospective multicenter study that the intracavitary electrocardiogram method for verifying tip position of peripherally inserted central catheter during follow-up period is feasible and accurate in all adult patients with cancer.

Insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters with intracavitary electrocardiogram guidance: A randomized multicenter study in China.
Ultrasound-guided venipuncture and tip location by intracavitary electrocardiogram have many advantages during the insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters, both in terms of safety and cost-effectiveness. Recently, a new tip-conductive peripherally inserted central catheters and new Doppler ultrasound device integrated with intracavitary electrocardiogram have been introduced into clinical practice in China. A randomized multicenter study (clinical trial no. NCT03230357) was performed to verify the feasibility and accuracy of intracavitary electrocardiogram, as performed with this new peripherally inserted central catheters and device. ⋯ These results indicated that during peripherally inserted central catheters insertion in adult patients, tip location with intracavitary electrocardiogram guidance, as carried out by a new tip-conductive peripherally inserted central catheters and intracavitary electrocardiogram integrated ultrasound device, was more effective and more accurate than tip location using anatomical landmarks.
