CK2α as a prognostic factor in invasive ductal carcinomas of the breast: cancer recurrence prognosis by surgical sampling.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Japanese and Asian women. Although the 5-year survival rate of these patients is relatively high, recurrences and fatalities do occur. The objective of this work was to develop a reliable prognostic indicator to guide therapeutic intervention without waiting for recurrence or metastasis. ⋯ Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (grant number 20lm0203006j0004).

Identifying areas at risk of endometrial cancer increase in Latin America: development of a geospatial model.
Endometrial cancer is presently the most common gynaecological cancer in high-income countries due to factors such as population aging and obesity, which leads to high oestrogen concentrations and is linked to abnormal endometrial cell proliferation. Obesity is a global health issue; more than 20% of people in Latin America are currently obese, and approximately 58% are overweight. The purpose of this study was to analyse obesity rates and the evolution of the female population older than 65 years of age in Latin American and Caribbean countries, mapping areas at high risk of increase in the incidence of endometrial cancer in the coming years. ⋯ None.

Impact of geospatial barriers on breast cancer care in Haiti: a retrospective cohort study.
Although geospatial barriers to cancer care are recognised, data quantifying their magnitude and impact on treatment and outcomes in low-income and middle-income countries are scarce. The objective of this study was to describe the geospatial distribution of patients receiving care for breast cancer at a tertiary hospital in Haiti. ⋯ Center for Global Cancer Medicine, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, USA.

Comprehensive characterisation of Lynch syndrome and screening strategies: a cohort study of individuals at risk from Latin American genetic registries.
Systematic screening for Lynch syndrome is non-existent in most Latin American countries. Until regional guidelines are developed and implemented, patients with colorectal cancer in Latin America are being followed up according to international recommendations. The aim of this study was to characterise the current Lynch syndrome screening method in the region, and to explore the prevalence of Lynch syndrome in a large cohort of individuals at risk. ⋯ Norwegian Cancer Society (contract 194751-2017).
