Post-operative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is a common complication of pancreatic resection. Somatostatin analogues (SA) have been used as prophylaxis to reduce its incidence. The aim of this study is to appraise the current literature on the effects of SA prophylaxis on the prevention of POPF following pancreatic resection. ⋯ SA prophylaxis following pancreatic resection reduces the incidence of POPF. However, mortality is unaffected.

Systemic immune side effects including pancreatitis have been reported with the use of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICI) (CTLA-4, PD-1 and PDL-1). However, the true incidence, risk, causes (tumor or drug specific) of pancreatitis and relation to other immune side effects, especially diabetes mellitus (DM) are unknown. ⋯ Our study provides precise data for the incidence of pancreatitis among patients using ICI based on tumor types and ICI regimens. ICI use for solid tumors is associated with increased incidence of all grades of lipase elevation and pancreatitis, especially for CTLA-4 agents and ICI combination. Although it does not appear to be associated with mortality, ICI related pancreatitis should be recognized early for appropriate treatment and to potentially reduce long term complications.

Is pancreaticogastrostomy safer than pancreaticojejunostomy after pancreaticoduodenectomy? A meta-regression analysis of randomized clinical trials.
To evaluate the clinically relevant POPF rate between Pancreatogastrostomy (PG) and pancreaticojejunostomy (PJ) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). To evaluate the confounding factors affecting meta-analytic results. ⋯ A PG could be slightly superior to PJ in the prevention of clinically relevant POPF. The presence of high risk pancreatic remnant remains the main limitation of PG.

Outcome of pancreas transplantation from donation after circulatory death compared to donation after brain death.
To overcome the gap of organ shortage grafts from donation after circulatory death (DCD) can be used. This review evaluates the outcomes after DCD pancreas donation compared to donation after brain death (DBD). ⋯ DCD pancreas transplantation has comparable patient and 1-year graft survival rates and should be considered a safe alternative for DBD pancreas transplantation.

Second pancreatectomy for recurrent pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in the remnant pancreas: A pooled analysis.
The aim of this study was to examine the outcomes of second pancreatectomy for the treatment of recurrent pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) in the remnant pancreas. ⋯ Second pancreatectomy for recurrent PDAC can be performed safely with long-term survival in selected patients.
