Multicenter Study Observational StudyPost-stroke sleep disturbances and rehabilitation outcomes: a prospective cohort study.
Poor sleep is common after stroke, and data regarding its effect on rehabilitation outcomes are limited. Controversial evidence was found concerning the effect of sedatives on improving sleep quality in poor sleepers after stroke. ⋯ This research supported that poor sleep was frequent after stroke and had negative effects on rehabilitation outcomes. Use of sedatives was of limited benefit to improve sleep quality, and further studies are required to search for strategies to improve sleep problems after stroke.

Following legislative changes in the availability and prescribing of medicinal cannabis in Australia, we sought to understand prospectively the nature of information seeking and requests for medicinal cannabis in consultations between palliative care clinicians and patients with cancer. The 104 discussions were overwhelmingly initiated by patients and carers (93%) and were for a variety of symptoms, reflecting high levels of patient interest in the use of medicinal cannabis in cancer.

Antimicrobial stewardship in diabetic ketoacidosis: a single-centre experience.
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a common and serious complication arising predominantly in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. International data demonstrate that infection is one of the most common precipitating causes of DKA. Currently there are limited data regarding the role of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) in this setting. ⋯ This study demonstrates a lower incidence of infection compared to most previous publications, and suggests that infection-precipitated DKA may be over reported. Furthermore, our findings provide support for the role of AMS in the management of DKA.
