ReviewDiagnosis and management of endothelial disorders following haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation is a mainstay of therapy for numerous malignant and nonmalignant diseases. Endothelial activation and dysfunction occur after stem cell transplantation, driven by various patient- and transplant-specific factors. This can manifest as one of the relatively uncommon endothelial injury syndromes, such as sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy, idiopathic pneumonia syndrome, capillary leak syndrome, engraftment syndrome or posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. This review focuses on the pathogenesis, classification and diagnosis of these disorders, as well as provides guidance on risk mitigation and treatment.

ReviewA review of the utility of prognostic tools in predicting 6-month mortality in cancer patients, conducted in the context of Voluntary Assisted Dying.
Eligibility to access the Victorian voluntary assisted dying (VAD) legislation requires that people have a prognosis of 6 months or less (or 12 months or less in the setting of a neurodegenerative diagnosis). Yet prognostic determination is frequently inaccurate and prompts clinician discomfort. Based on functional capacity and clinical and biochemical markers, prognostic tools have been developed to increase the accuracy of life expectancy predictions. ⋯ Prognostication is a significant aspect of VAD, and the utility of the currently available prognostic tools appears limited but may prompt discussions about prognosis and alternative means (other than prognostic estimates) to identify those eligible for VAD.

Case ReportsOmadacycline therapy for Mycobacterium abscessus species infections.
Antimicrobial resistance and therapy-related adverse effects make Mycobacterium abscessus treatment challenging. Omadacycline is a novel, bioavailable aminomethylcycline with favourable in vitro activity against M. abscessus. ⋯ Although the limited observational data and in vitro susceptibility results are encouraging, randomised control trials are required to determine the role of omadacycline as part of combination therapy for this most difficult-to-treat pathogen.

ReviewPrognostic value of patient reported outcomes in advanced gastro-oesophageal cancer: a systematic review.
To summarise the prognostic value of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in advanced gastro-oesophageal (GO) cancer. We systematically searched multiple databases using search terms related to advanced GO cancer, PRO and prognosis. Studies examining the relationship between baseline PROs and prognosis were included. ⋯ One multivariable analysis among participants with oesophageal SCC showed physical and social functioning was associated with OS. Among participants with adenocarcinoma, multivariable analyses showed associations between OS and physical functioning/lack of mobility, appetite loss/anorexia (three studies), global QOL, role functioning/lack of self-care, pain (two studies) and social functioning (one study). Physical functioning, role functioning, social functioning, pain, anorexia and global QOL were associated with OS in advanced GO cancer.
