Multicenter Study Comparative StudyHealthcare professionals' knowledge on cardiopulmonary resuscitation correlated with return of spontaneous circulation rates after in-hospital cardiac arrests: A multicentric study between university hospitals in 12 European countries.
In-hospital cardiac arrest is a major cause of death in European countries, and survival of patients remains low ranging from 20% to 25%. ⋯ Differences in knowledge about resuscitation and course attendance were found between university hospitals in 12 European countries. Education in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is considered to be vital for patients' return of spontaneous circulation rates after in-hospital cardiac arrest. A higher level of knowledge in advanced life support results in higher return of spontaneous circulation rates.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyDifferences between Slovak and Dutch patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass graft surgery regarding clinical and psychosocial predictors of physical and mental health-related quality of life.
Differences in health-related quality of life in coronary artery disease patients and associated factors between patients of central and western European descent are rarely investigated. We aim to test differences between Dutch and Slovak health-related quality of life, whether nationality predicted health-related quality of life and if standardised beta weights of health-related quality of life determinants differ across countries. ⋯ Descent and differences between both populations in determinants of health-related quality of life should be considered while planning care, follow-up, health education and rehabilitation.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyImpact of comorbidities by age on symptom presentation for suspected acute coronary syndromes in the emergency department.
It is estimated half of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients have one or more associated comorbid conditions. ⋯ Younger patients with ACS and higher number of comorbidities report less chest pain, putting them at higher risk for delayed diagnosis and treatment since chest pain is a hallmark symptom for ACS.

Multicenter StudyFeasibility of a nursing intervention to prepare frail older patients for cardiac surgery: a mixed-methods study.
Given the growing number of vulnerable, older cardiac surgery patients, the preadmission PREvention Decline in Older Cardiac Surgery patients (PREDOCS) programme was developed to reduce the incidence of postoperative complications. Before the clinical effects of such a complex multicomponent intervention can be evaluated, the feasibility needs to be determined to detect possible problems with the acceptability, compliance and delivery. ⋯ The PREDOCS programme is acceptable for patients and nurses but should be built into the hospital's cardiac surgery pathway or applied in home care.

Multicenter StudyThe CHARMS Study: cardiac patients' experiences of sexual problems following cardiac rehabilitation.
Sexual problems are common among cardiac patients. Further information is required on patients' experiences of sexuality and preferences for sexual counselling. ⋯ Sexual inactivity and sexual problems are common in this group. Health professionals should address sexual issues with their patients, ideally in a private setting and within the broader context of addressing psychological wellbeing.
