The predictive power of the Roussouly classification on mechanical complications after surgery for adult spinal deformity: systematic review and meta-analysis.
With the increasing prevalence of adult spinal deformity (ASD) in the aging population, the need for corrective surgery has surged, highlighting the importance of preventing mechanical complications (MC) such as junctional kyphosis/failure and rod breakage. The Roussouly classification, which categorizes natural variations in spinal posture, may hold predictive value in assessing the risk of these complications, as it guides the restoration of sagittal alignment based on a patient's preoperative spinal shape. ⋯ III.

Peripheral Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation for Neuropathies: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
The main objective of this review is to demonstrate the use of Peripheral Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (PENS), together with its most up-to-date protocols, for the treatment of neuropathies. ⋯ PENS requires nurse education on electrode/needle placement and patient instruction, with documentation of key parameters. This review emphasizes the need for further research to establish standardized protocols and optimal application parameters for different neuropathic pain conditions.

Review Meta AnalysisSodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors for all-cause and cardiovascular death in people with different stages of CKD: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) reduce cardiovascular risk in people with diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, but emerging studies in chronic kidney disease (CKD) have inconsistent results. In this systematic review, we evaluate the effects of SGLT2is on cardiovascular mortality in people with CKD as a whole and across subgroups stratified by baseline kidney function and among people at low, moderate, high and very high risk according to KDIGO- CKD classification system. ⋯ PROSPERO registration number: CRD42022382863.

Postoperative delirium under general anaesthesia by remimazolam versus propofol: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
Remimazolam, an ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine, has similar clinical effects to propofol for sedation in general anaesthesia. However, it remains uncertain whether remimazolam could increase postoperative delirium (POD) compared with propofol. ⋯ Perioperative remimazolam administration did not increase POD and reduced the risk of intraoperative hypotension compared to propofol. Further large-scale RCTs are warranted to explore the association of remimazolam and POD. Systematic review protocol: PROSPERO CRD42024544122.

Review Meta AnalysisEfficacy and safety of benralizumab in eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis: A meta-analysis of eight studies.
Eosinophilic granulomatous polyangiitis (EGPA) is a rare autoimmune disease characterized by multisystemic inflammation, with eosinophils playing a central role in its pathogenesis. Traditional management relies heavily on corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, which are associated with significant side effects. The emergence of biologic agents, such as benralizumab, offers targeted therapeutic options by inhibiting the interleukin-5 receptor α, thereby reducing eosinophilic inflammation. ⋯ These findings provide robust evidence supporting the use of benralizumab as an effective and well-tolerated treatment option for EGPA, significantly reducing OCS requirements and offering promising remission rates. Future research should focus on larger, multicentre RCTs to confirm these findings and further elucidate the long-term benefits and safety profile of benralizumab in EGPA.
