Proposal for the classification of peri-implant femoral fractures: Retrospective cohort study.
Background Peri-implant fractures occur in association with an implant used to treat a previous injury and that is still attached to the bone. Peri-implant fractures are considered to be relatively "new" fractures and they lack any classification system that is accepted in practice. Generally, the fracture classification systems currently used in our clinical practice were not developed or validated using rigorous scientific evaluation methods. ⋯ The highest proportion of peri-implant femoral fractures corresponded to #31-AN (trochanteric and neck area) and #32-CNP (diaphysis fractures distant from the implant, often distal and spiral). Conclusion The proposed classification for peri-implant femoral fractures appears to be useful and easy to accomplish. Future studies will be necessary to validate it and demonstrate the effectiveness of its application in clinical practice.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyTibial plateau fracture management: ARIF versus ORIF - clinical and radiological comparison.
Arthroscopy has enabled minimally invasive procedures to be developed to treat tibial plateau fracture. The aim of the present study was to assess and compare clinical and radiological results between arthroscopically assisted reduction and internal fixation (ARIF) and open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) procedures. The study hypothesis was that, in selected tibial plateau fractures, ARIF provides (1) clinical results comparable to those of ORIF, and (2) satisfactory reduction and stable fixation. ⋯ III, retrospective comparative study.

The surgical outcome of Lisfranc injuries accompanied by multiple metatarsal fractures: A multicenter retrospective study.
This study assessed the surgical outcomes of Lisfranc injuries accompanied by multiple metatarsal fractures. Metatarsal fractures here refers to metatarsal head, neck, and shaft (including shaft fractures accompanied by fractures of the base) fractures, as well as mixed (i.e., segmental fracture) fractures, as seen on imaging studies. ⋯ With longer and more conservative postoperative management, fusion results in a better outcome than non-fusion in the treatment of Lisfranc injuries accompanied by multiple metatarsal fractures.

Technical note and surgical outcomes of percutaneous cable fixation in subtrochanteric fracture: A review of 51 consecutive cases over 4 years in two institutions.
The main purpose of this study is to introduce our surgical technique and report surgical outcomes for percutaneous cable fixation in the treatment of subtrochanteric femoral fractures. ⋯ Percutaneous cerclage cable fixation can provide a greater likelihood of achieving anatomical reduction and increased stability of fracture, while preserving biology around the fracture site. Thus, percutaneous cerclage cable fixation can be an effective surgical technique for the treatment of complex subtrochanteric fractures.

Wound complications after open reduction and internal fixation of tibial plateau fractures in the elderly: a multicentre study.
The incidence of wound complications after open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF) of tibial plateau fractures in young patients has been reported to range from approximately 5 to 15%. Reports on wound complication rates in the elderly patients are limited. This study investigates the incidence of post-operative wound complications in elderly patients undergoing ORIF of their tibial plateau fractures. ⋯ The overall infection rates in elderly patients undergoing ORIF for tibial plateau fractures is in a similar range to published data on younger patient populations. In particular, elderly patients without significant co-morbidities seem to be appropriate candidates for ORIF of their tibial plateau fractures. However, elderly patients with significant co-morbidities must be considered as high risk and alternative treatment options, such as nonoperative treatment or less invasive surgical options, should be explored in these patients.
