Effects of dexmedetomidine on intraoperative hemodynamics, recovery profile and postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial.
To investigate the optimal dose of dexmedetomidine to maintain hemodynamic stability, prevent of cough and minimize postoperative pain for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Intravenous infusion of 0.6μg/kg dexmedetomidine before induction can maintain hemodynamic stability, decrease cough during emergence, relieve postoperative pain of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

The Analgesic Efficacy of Erector Spinae Plane Blocks in Patients Undergoing Posterior Lumbar Spinal Surgery for Lumbar Fracture.
To investigate the postoperative analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided lumbar erector spinae plane (ESP) blocks in patients undergoing posterior lumbar spinal surgery for lumbar spinal fractures. ⋯ PCA combined with lumbar ESP blocks provided superior postoperative analgesia for patients with lumbar spinal fractures treated with posterior internal fixation. Lumbar ESP blocks decreased postoperative opioid consumption and incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting, thereby enhancing postoperative recovery.

Short-Term Topical Tetracaine Is Highly Efficacious for the Treatment of Pain Caused by Corneal Abrasions: A Double-Blind, Randomized Clinical Trial.
The objective of this study is to show that patients with corneal abrasions would experience more pain relief with short-term topical tetracaine than placebo. ⋯ Short-term topical tetracaine is an efficacious analgesic for acute corneal abrasions, is associated with less hydrocodone use compared with placebo, and was found to be safe in this sample.

The erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is gaining popularity in lumbar fusion for postoperative pain management. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided lumbar ESPB reduces the amount of analgesics required during and after lumbar fusion and reduces the postoperative Visual Analog Scale pain score.

Analgesic efficacy of intrathecal morphine and bupivacaine during the early postoperative period in patients who underwent robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy: a prospective randomized controlled study.
The present study was performed to investigate the analgesic efficacy of intrathecal morphine and bupivacaine (ITMB) in terms of treating early postoperative pain in adult patients who underwent robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). ⋯ A single spinal injection of morphine and bupivacaine provided proper early postoperative analgesia and decreased additional requirements for IV opioids in patients who underwent RALP.
