A study on the impact of gargling with compound Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi on oral health and microflora changes in fixed orthodontic patients: An experimental study.
To investigate the effect of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi gargle on oral health and changes in oral bacteria among orthodontic patients. ⋯ In fixed orthodontic treatment, S. baicalensis Georgi gargle can effectively inhibit oral pathogens and maintain periodontal health.

Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Hence, there is a need to identify new therapeutic agents to improve the current repertoire of therapeutic drugs. Wogonin, a flavonoid from the herbal medicine Scutellaria baicalensis, has unique antitumor activity. ⋯ We detected phosphorylation of tumor-associated signaling pathways using a phosphorylated protein microarray and found that wogonin intervention significantly inhibited the phosphorylation level of the AKT protein in colorectal cancer cells. Through in vitro and in vivo experiments, it was confirmed that wogonin exerted its antitumor effects against colorectal cancer by inhibiting phosphorylation in the AKT pathway. Our discovery of wogonin as an inhibitor of AKT phosphorylation provides new opportunities for the pharmacological treatment of colorectal cancer.

Evidence and possible mechanism of Scutellaria baicalensis and its bioactive compounds for hepatocellular carcinoma treatment.
Traditional Chinese medicines have been reported to have outstanding effects in the treating of hepatocellular carcinoma. Scutellaria baicalensis (S. baicalensis) has demonstrated anti-tumor, anti-angiogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. Baicalein, wogonin, and baicalin are the main pharmacologically bioactive compounds of S. baicalensis. ⋯ Based on experimental and clinical evidence, we believe that S. baicalensis and its bioactive compounds have therapeutic potential and plausible mechanisms of action against hepatocellular carcinoma, in terms of efficacy and safety.

The aim of the study wasto explore the target and potential mechanism of Scutellariae Radix and Astragaloside in the treatment of lung cancer infection by network pharmacology. The target information of baicalein and flavonin was mined from CTD database and Swiss database. Genecards database, DRUGBANK database, and OMIM database were used to search for lung cancer related genes. ⋯ The "component-target" network of Astragaloside and Scutellariae Radix was constructed, and the protein interaction network (PPI) of the overlapping targets was analyzed to identify the key targets of drug-influenced diseases. In addition, KEGG pathway analysis and GO enrichment analysis were performed on the overlapping targets to explore the mechanism of Scutellariae Radix and Astragaloside in the treatment of lung cancer. Scutellariae Radix and Astragaloside have the characteristics of multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway in the treatment of lung cancer, which provides a new idea and scientific basis for further research on the molecular mechanism of the antilung cancer effect of Scutellariae Radix and Astragaloside.

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone malignancy that occurs frequently in children and adolescents. Baicalein, a flavonoid that has attracted great attention in recent years with its strong antitumor activity, shows a wide range of biological and pharmaceutical effects.MicroRNAs have been found to be involved in many critical processes in cancers. This study aimed to investigate the effect of baicalein and miR-25 on Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway of osteosarcoma cell line Saos-2. ⋯ These findings demonstrate that baicalein may target genes related to the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by regulating miR-25 expression and may be a potential Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibitor for osteosarcoma therapy.
