[Significance of extravascular lung water index, pulmonary vascular permeability index, and in- trathoracic blood volume index in the differential diagnosis of burn-induced pulmonary edema].
To appraise the significance of extravascular lung water index (EVLWI), pulmonary vascular permeability index (PVPI), and intrathoracic blood volume index (ITBVI) in the differential diagnosis of the type of burn-induced pulmonary edema. ⋯ EVLWI, PVPI, and ITBVI have an important significance in the differential diagnosis of the type of burn-induced pulmonary edema, and they may be helpful in the early diagnosis and management of burn-induced pulmonary edema.

[Correlation of severity classification of acute respiratory distress syndrome by the Berlin definition with extra vascular lung water index and pulmonary vascular permeability index].
To explore the correlation of severity classification of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) by the Berlin definition with extra vascular lung water index (EVLWI) and pulmonary vascular permeability index (PVPI). ⋯ Both EVLWI and PVPI reflect adequately the severity of ARDS by the Berlin definition. And the dynamic trend of PVPI is superior to that of EVLWI.

ReviewRole and importance of ultrasound lung comets in acute cardiac care.
Lung ultrasonography is an emerging, user-friendly and easy-to-use technique that can be performed quickly at the patient's bedside to evaluate several pathologic conditions affecting the lung. Ultrasound lung comets (ULCs) are an echographic sign of uncertain biophysical characterisation mostly attributed to water-thickened subpleural interlobular septa, but invariably associated with increased extravascular lung water. ULCs have thus been proposed as a complementary tool for the assessment and monitoring of acute heart failure and are now entering into statements in international recommendation documents. ⋯ The technique allows the simultaneous gathering of considerable information about the heart and the lungs to investigate acute and chronic cardio-pulmonary conditions within a non-invasive, radiation-free, single-probe, all-in-one examination. We have here reviewed the pertinent literature on the physical origin of ULCs and on their role and importance in intensive and acute cardiac care settings. We also here propose a new algorithm aimed at implementing evaluation in the diagnostic work-up of patients with suspected acute heart failure.

[Advances in the research of extravascular lung water after severe burn].
Pulmonary edema frequently occurs after severe burn. It not only impairs pulmonary function directly, but also can induce or exacerbate other pulmonary complications such as lung infection, acute lung injury ( ALI), and ARDS. ⋯ Dynamical monitor of EVLW has been used to predict and quantify the degree of pulmonary edema clinically. This review focuses on the recent progresses at home and abroad on the formation mechanism, monitoring approach, and prevention and treatment of EVLW after severe burn injury.
