Post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathic pain (PTNP) following trigeminal neuralgia (TN)-related neuroablative procedures is relatively rare. Due to the fear of debilitating complications, its treatment has been generally suboptimal. Pregabalin (PGB) has been reported to relieve neuropathic pain. However, the potential role of PGB and the predictors of response of PGB use as a strategy in the treatment of PTNP following TN-related neuroablative procedures have not been identified yet. ⋯ Post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathic pain, efficacy, safety, predictor of response, pregabalin.

Moral Distress and Its Relating Factors Among Pediatric Emergency Department Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Emergency services are patient circulation units that require chaos, trauma, and high tension. It was aimed to determine the moral distress levels of pediatric nurses in pediatric emergency and emergency departments and relevant factors. ⋯ It was found in the study that nurses had low levels of moral distress; however, many factors relevant to working conditions were associated with moral distress. The pediatric emergency service nurses were determined to experience a higher moral distress compared with the emergency department nurses serving pediatric patients.

Low-dose ketamine infusion (LDKI) has shown effectiveness for treating acute pain associated with surgical and nonsurgical (traumatic, neuropathic, and acute cancer-related) origin as an adjuvant to opioids. The increasing use of LDKI as an opioid-sparing agent in multimodal analgesia requires a better understanding of its effects on the cardiovascular response, a known dose-dependent side effect of ketamine administration. We investigated the cardiovascular response of acute pain patients treated with LDKI. ⋯ Ketamine, adverse effects, tachycardia, hypertension, postoperative pain, chronic postsurgical pain.

Intercostal nerve cryoablation is an adjunctive measure that has demonstrated pain control, decrease in opioid consumption, and decrease in hospital length of stay (LOS) in patients who undergo surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF). ⋯ Intercostal nerve cryoablation during SSRF is associated with fewer ventilator days, ICU LOS, total post-operative, and daily opioid use without increasing time in the operating room or perioperative pulmonary complications.

Characterizing the frequency, morbidity, and types of traumatic brain injuries after the Mexico-San Diego border wall extension: a retrospective cohort review.
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the US-Mexico border wall height extension on traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and related costs. ⋯ This heightened risk of intracranial injury among vulnerable immigrant populations poses ethical and economic concerns to be addressed regarding border wall infrastructure.
