ReviewTreatment of coracoid process fractures: a systematic review.
The coracoid process is a small hook-shaped feature on the scapula and a key structure of the superior shoulder suspensory complex (SSSC). Fractures of the coracoid are rare. Therefore, no consensus exists regarding treatment of coracoid process fractures. Systematically review indications, outcomes and complications of traumatic coracoid process fractures in adults, and to provide a treatment algorithm. ⋯ Based on moderate quality studies, surgical treatment may be considered in Ogawa type I fractures with multiple disruptions of the SSSC. A conservative treatment seems sufficient in other fracture types.

ReviewDiagnosis and conservative management of great toe pathologies: a review.
Acute great toe (Hallux) pain is a common complaint encountered by the primary care physician. Pathological conditions can vary from acute trauma to acute exacerbation of underlying chronic conditions. ⋯ The acute pathologies discussed in this review are hallux fractures and dislocations, turf toe, sand toe, and sesamoid disorders. The chronic pathologies discussed include hallux rigidus, hallux valgus, and chronic sesamoiditis.

Adolescent mid-shaft clavicular fracture displacement does not predict nonunion or inferior functional outcome at long-term follow-up.
The aim of this study was to define the complications and long-term outcome following adolescent mid-shaft clavicular fracture. ⋯ Nonoperative management of adolescent mid-shaft clavicle fractures results in excellent functional outcomes at long-term follow-up. Nonunion is exceptionally rare following nonoperative management and the relative indications for surgical intervention in adults do not appear to be applicable to adolescents. Traditionally, midshaft clavicular fractures in adolescents are treated nonoperatively. In later years, a trend toward operative treatment can be observed. Documentation of the benefit of surgery in this group is scarce. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term patient reported functional outcomes and complications for patients treated operatively and nonoperatively for displaced midshaft clavicular fractures. Using the same outcomes we also compared the operative methods. ⋯ Level III study-retrospective comparative study.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyNeither operative nor nonoperative approach is superior for treating displaced midshaft clavicle fractures: a partially blinded randomized controlled clinical trial.
To compare the functionality of adults with displaced mid-shaft clavicular fractures treated either operatively or nonoperatively and to compare the relative risk of nonunion and reoperation between the two groups. ⋯ Superiority was not identified with either an all-operative or all-nonoperative approach. The functionality at short term (within six weeks) seems igreater following operative treatment but was not found at one year. The risk of nonunion is significantly higher with nonoperative treatment. However, an all-operative approach to lower the nonunion risk may result in unnecessary surgery and is not recommended.
