Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Reclining chairs reduce pain from gurneys in older emergency department patients: a randomized controlled trial.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialEffects of social work intervention on nonemergent pediatric emergency department utilization.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether social work intervention would reduce nonemergent visits to the emergency department and increase scheduled pediatric visits. A high-risk repeater group of 104 pediatric patients with three or more emergency department visits was randomly selected to receive social work intervention. ⋯ Pre- and postintervention emergency department visits were significantly reduced in the intervention group compared with the group that received no intervention and with prior utilization. Scheduled visits declined in the control group but increased by 26 percent in the intervention group.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Acute psychiatric day hospital treatment: is the effectiveness of this treatment approach still questionable?].
Currently, there is still a severe lack of methodologically sound empirical studies on acute psychiatric day hospital treatment in German-speaking countries that analyse the effectiveness of this increasingly important mode of service provision. ⋯ For the first time in German-speaking countries, this study provides evidence for the effectiveness of acute day hospital treatment as compared to conventional inpatient treatment. If detailed eligibility criteria for patients are used as defined here, approximately 30 % of the general psychiatric patients in need of acute hospital-based treatment may be cared for in this special mode of day hospital service provision.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialEfficacy of a pediatric emergency department-based influenza vaccination program.
Influenza vaccination effectively reduces influenza-related morbidity in children but is underused. The pediatric emergency department is a potential intervention point for increasing influenza vaccination in children. ⋯ A pediatric emergency department-based influenza vaccination program increases vaccination of targeted children and family members who use the emergency department during influenza vaccination season.
