Multicenter StudyCalcium Administration During Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in Children With Heart Disease Is Associated With Worse Survival-A Report From the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation (GTWT-R) Registry.
IV calcium administration during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) is associated with worse survival. We evaluated survival to hospital discharge in children with heart disease (HD), where calcium is more frequently administered during CPR. ⋯ Calcium administration during CPR for children with HD experiencing IHCA is common and is associated with worse survival. Administration of calcium during CPR in children with HD should be restricted to specific indications as recommended by the AHA CPR guidelines.

Trauma associated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation based on autopsy reports after the 2015 ERC guidelines.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)-related injuries have not been assessed since the 2015 Resuscitation Guidelines were established. ⋯ CPR-related injuries occurred frequently, although those that were life-threatening accounted for only 3% of cases. There were no differences between patients who were resuscitated by bystander(s) or by professionals and no differences between mechanical chest devices or manual resuscitation. Compared with a study based on the 2010 guidelines, similar injuries were found, but with more rib fractures, less visceral organ damage, and fewer life-threatening injuries.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySodium Bicarbonate Use During Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: A Secondary Analysis of the ICU-RESUScitation Project Trial.
To evaluate associations between sodium bicarbonate use and outcomes during pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest (p-IHCA). ⋯ In this propensity weighted multicenter cohort study of p-IHCA, sodium bicarbonate use was common and associated with lower rates of survival to hospital discharge.

Multicenter StudyWeight-Based Versus Flat Dosing of Epinephrine During Cardiac Arrest in the PICU: A Multicenter Survey.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines include weight-based epinephrine dosing recommendations of 0.01 mg/kg with a maximum of 1 mg, which corresponds to a weight of 100 kg. Actual practice patterns are unknown. ⋯ The majority of PICUs surveyed report epinephrine dosing practices that are inconsistent with PALS guidelines.

Multicenter StudyThe Impact of a Machine Learning Early Warning Score on Hospital Mortality: A Multicenter Clinical Intervention Trial.
To determine the impact of a machine learning early warning risk score, electronic Cardiac Arrest Risk Triage (eCART), on mortality for elevated-risk adult inpatients. ⋯ Implementation of a machine learning early warning score-driven protocol was associated with reduced inhospital mortality, likely driven by earlier and more frequent ICU transfer.
