Chinese Neurosurgical Randomized Controlled Trials: Dynamics in Trial Implementation and Completion.
The focus on evidence-based neurosurgery has led to a considerable amount of neurosurgical evidence based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) being published. Nevertheless, there has been no systematic appraisal of China's contribution to RCTs. Information about the changes in characteristics of Chinese neurosurgical RCTs before and during the COVID-19 pandemic is limited. This study aims to perform a detailed examination and comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of Chinese neurosurgical RCTs and to examine the differences before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ Chinese neurosurgeons have made significant progress in advancing neurosurgical RCTs despite challenges. However, shortcomings in sample size and power calculation need attention. Improving the rigor, rationality, and completeness of neurosurgical RCT design is crucial.

The influence of advanced age on long-term postsurgical analgesic use in patients receiving neuraxial anaesthesia for elective surgery.
To determine the relationship between age and long-term postsurgical analgesic use in patients who underwent elective surgery with neuraxial anaesthesia. ⋯ Older age is an independent risk factor for long-term analgesic use after surgery under neuraxial anaesthesiaanesthesia, indicating an increased risk for chronic postsurgical pain.

[The German Guideline on Liver Transplantation by DGVS and DGAV].
The S2k guideline "Liver Transplantation", jointly developed by the German Society of Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and the German Society of General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV), represents the first German-language guideline for the care of adult patients before and after liver transplantation. This guideline has been crafted through a collaborative, consensus-based approach, involving experts from various disciplines. It integrates current scientific insights and clinical experience to ensure optimal care for patients undergoing liver transplantation. Targeting health care professionals in diagnostics and therapy, patient advocates, affected individuals, and their families, the guideline aims to establish a framework for common decisions in clinical practice.

With the advancement of endoscopic endonasal surgery in the treatment of anterior skull base (ASB) pathologies, extended, watertight reconstructions are needed to prevent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. This often involves the use of multilayers closure, with free fascia lata (FL) graft frequently used as an in- and/or outlay. However, positioning the FL properly can be challenging and time-consuming, particularly on wider defects. In this technical note, we present an easier and faster way to position FL using a silicone sheet. ⋯ The "Gift wrap" technique offers an alternative approach for positioning the FL, which is less time-consuming compared to the traditional technique. Moreover, it enables improved placement of the FL, enhancing its efficacy.
