First neonates with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection in Romania: Three case reports.
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, which quickly spread throughout the world, has been putting medical workers all over the world in difficulty because of the high number of cases combined with the lack of information about the disease. Although pediatric cases are rare, the group age under 12 months has been in general more susceptible to develop severe forms of the disease compared with the patients in the age interval of 1 to 18 years. ⋯ Even if there are only a few reported cases of neonates infected with COVID-19 and most of them present mild manifestations, newborns need a more careful insight because of the nonspecific symptomatology.

Coronary artery abnormalities are usually of major significance in clinical cardiology and cardiac surgery departments due to associated myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and sudden cardiac death. Among them, anatomical malformations account for most coronary artery abnormalities. However, hypoplasia of the coronary artery is a rare type of coronary artery without any genetic screening information. ⋯ Hypoplastic coronary artery diseases have only been reported within very limited cases. This is the only report that has identified hypoplasia in 3 epicardial major coronary arteries. In addition, this is the first case to provide evidence between NOTCH1 genetic disorder and hypoplastic coronary artery disease in the clinic.

To compare clinical characteristics and identify long-term outcomes of Chinese patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) with and without muscle involvement. We retrospectively investigated the medical records, laboratory results, and computed tomography images of 204 consecutive SSc patients. Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed to determine survival rates. ⋯ Further, the myopathy group has similar results in interstitial lung disease associated higher resolution computed tomography score (186.8 ± 64.5 vs 152.3 ± 45.5, P = .037), Valentini score for disease activity (3.4 ± 0.9 vs 2.0 ± 0.9, P < .001) and modified Rodnan total skin score (19.4 ± 6.1 vs 15.1 ± 7.7, P = .002), compared with non-myopathy group. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed decreased overall survival rate of the myopathy group (P = .028). SSc Patients with myopathy had more severe clinical manifestations and higher disease activity compared with those without, which affected survival rates and indicated worse prognosis.

Follicular non-Hodgkin lymphoma (fNHL) is a neoplasm characterized by an indolent course and chemosensitivity, but also by disease recurrence. Bendamustine is often used as frontline treatment or second line. HEADING DIAGNOSIS:: fNHL. ⋯ Early switching to a bendamustine-rituximab-based scheme, even during conventional chemotherapy, decreases toxicity and reduces the risk of treatment interruption or delay, with favorable effects on overall response and prognosis.

Disturbance of consciousness due to hyperammonemia and lactic acidosis during mFOLFOX6 regimen: Case report.
FOLFOX therapy is the main chemotherapy regimen for colorectal cancer. Peripheral neuropathy, hematotoxicity, and digestive symptoms are known to be the most frequent adverse events. Hyperammonemia and lactic acidosis rarely occur simultaneously during treatment with FOLFOX therapy; the number of case reports is limited worldwide. We report a case of disturbance of consciousness, considered to be caused by hyperammonemia and lactic acidosis that occurred during treatment with mFOLFOX6 therapy that was administered as postoperative adjuvant treatment for rectal cancer. ⋯ In patients with chronic kidney disease, FOLFOX regimen may confer risks of hyperammonemia and lactic acidosis.
