Lung Cancer is one of the most common cancers with high degree of malignancy, is a devastating disease with a poor prognosis worldwide. prognostic prediction for patients with non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still challenge. ⋯ We have detected both tumor mutations and methylated DNA in plasma of patients with NSCLC. Combined genetic and methylated DNA decreasing after treatment was an independent risk factor for prognosis of patients with NSCLC. Meanwhile, it had favorable predict value and had potential to be defined as a novel biomarker for patients with NSCLC.

Impact of oxidative stress on treatment outcomes in adult patients with sepsis: A prospective study.
Oxidative stress has been shown to reflect on the development of sepsis and disease severity. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of increased levels of oxidative stress and decreased antioxidant coactivity in patients with sepsis, and the importance of oxidative stress on treatment outcomes. ⋯ We conclude that a TBARS cut-off value of 18.30 μM can be used to predict fatality, and an increase in the TBARS concentration by 1 μM will increase the fatality rate by 0.94%. In the panel of biomarkers, the TBARS assay can be considered as a prognostic biomarker for the treatment of patients with sepsis.

Successful blood glucose management of a severe COVID-19 patient with diabetes: A case report.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has emerged as a rapidly spreading communicable disease affecting individuals worldwide. Patients with diabetes are more vulnerable to the disease, and the mortality is higher than in those without diabetes. We reported a severe COVID-19 patient with diabetes and shared our experience with blood glucose management. ⋯ This case indicated that the comprehensive measures performed by a multidisciplinary team achieved good treatment effects on a COVID-19 patient with diabetes. Targeted treatment and nursing methods should be performed based on patients' actual situations in clinical practice.

Critically ill patients with COVID-19 with ECMO and artificial liver plasma exchange: A retrospective study.
COVID-19 is an emerging infectious disease capable of causing severe pneumonia. We aimed to characterize a group of critically ill patients in a single-center study. This was a retrospective case series of 23 patients with confirmed COVID-19-related critical illness in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Hangzhou Zhejiang Province between January 22 and March 20, 2020. ⋯ Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation reduced the requirements for ventilator support. Artificial liver plasma exchange significantly reduced inflammatory cytokine levels. These supportive therapies helped to extend the patients' survival times and increase the chance of follow-up treatments.

Physical activity can reduce the prevalence of gallstone disease among males: An observational study.
Several previous studies have reported that physical activity (PA) levels can independently affect the prevalence of gallstone disease (GD) in Western countries. However, this association has not been reported in Eastern countries. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether PA is an independent determinant of GD prevalence in a Korean population, according to the World Health Organizations Global Recommendations on PA for Health. ⋯ The estimated rates of PA and GD among male subjects were 23.7% and 4.6%, whereas the rates among females were 18.4% and 4.2%, respectively. Multivariate analysis suggested that no PA, old age, and higher aspartate aminotransferase level in males and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease status in females were independent factors affecting GD. In our study, PA was associated with a reduction in GD among males but not females.
