Evaluation of clinical efficacy of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a common disease in critically ill patients that has a high incidence and mortality rate worldwide. At present, there is no specific treatment for ARDS. Traditional Chinese medicine has been shown to have good potential in preventing and treating ARDS, especially in reducing the dosages of Western medicines and therefore, adverse drug reactions. The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical efficacy of integrated Chinese and Western medicine to that of Western medicine alone in the treatment of ARDS. ⋯ In this study, we aim to demonstrate the greater clinical efficacy of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of ARDS compared to that of Western medicine alone. In order to do this, we hope to provide evidence for the clinically supportive effect of the Jiawei qianyang dan in the treatment of ARDS and therefore demonstrate a more effective treatment.

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease with indefinite remission and relapse cycles, which can result in a high incidence rate of malnutrition. There has been increasing clinical interest in enteral nutrition (EN) as an adjunct treatment for CD. This report aims to present a case of a severely malnourished CD patient given EN support in combination with conventional infliximab (IFX) treatment. ⋯ The jejunal feeding tube was the starting point of her weight gain and inflammation reduction, which allowed her adequate energy. EN may be a potential complementary therapeutic strategy to manage clinical symptoms of CD and improve severe malnutrition.

Atopic dermatitis (AD), a prevalent chronic skin disease in children, has been associated with psychosocial illness and reduced quality of life because of severe itching and sleep deprivation. Previous studies have found a consistent association between AD and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, little is known about this relationship in Chinese children with AD. ⋯ Sleep deprivation caused by AD may be a risk factor for ADHD. AD affects quality of life, especially in patients with ADHD symptoms. AD patients with symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity should be evaluated for ADHD.
