Clinicopathologic characteristics of resectable colorectal cancer with mismatch repair protein defects in Chinese population: Retrospective case series and literature review.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents a major malignancy globally, with microsatellite instability as its second top molecular mechanism of carcinogenesis. Immunohistochemical (IHC), whose sensitivity and specificity exceed 90%, is used routinely to detect 4 MMR proteins (MLH1, PMS2, MSH2, and MSH6) for screening mismatch repair system defects. We aimed to assess associations of clinicopathologic characteristics with MMR status in resectable CRC patients. ⋯ Five-year overall survival (OS) rates were 84.2% and 79.2% in left-side and right-side cases, respectively; 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 74.0% and 69.8%, respectively. Survival had no differences between left- and right-side patients in terms of OS (P = .318) and DFS (P = .481). These data demonstrate that 4 major dMMR proteins are expressed differently in left- and right-side CRCs, and survival is comparable in right- and left-side resectable CRC cases with dMMR.

Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and stroke- like episodes (MELAS) syndrome is caused by mitochondrial respiratory chain dysfunction and oxidative phosphorylation disorder. It is a rare clinical metabolic disease involved with multiple systems. ⋯ Mitochondrial DNA of blood and hair follicle of patient carried m.10158T>C mutation LESSONS:: For the suspected patients of MELAS syndrome, if the hot-spot mutation test is negative, more detection sites should be selected.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Jianpi Yiqi method (JYM) is a classical Chinese therapy in the treatment of COPD. However, there is no systematic review related to JYM for COPD. In this study, we aim to systematically examine the efficacy and safety for clinical use of JYM. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/JKQYV.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease associated with progressive joint damage and disability. There is a lack of effective methods in the treatment of RA currently. Many clinical trials have proved that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has obvious advantages in the treatment of RA. In this systematic review, we intend to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM for active RA. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42019146726.
