Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Dynesys system vs posterior decompression and fusion for the treatment of lumbar degenerative diseases.
The Dynesys dynamic stabilization system is an alternative to rigid instrumentation and fusion for the treatment of lumbar degenerative disease. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy between Dynesys and posterior decompression and fusion for lumbar degenerative diseases. ⋯ Our meta-analysis suggests that Dynesys system acquires comparable clinical outcomes compared to fusion in the treatment of lumbar degenerative diseases. Moreover, compared with fusion, Dynesys could remain ROM of surgical segments with less operation time, blood loss, length of stay, adjacent-segment degeneration, and lower complication. Further studies with large samples, long term follow up and well-designed are needed to assess the two procedures in the future.

Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMVD), highly prevalent among patients with a mental disorder (anxiety or depression), is closely related to adverse cardiac events, including hospitalization, sudden cardiac death, and myocardial infarction. Shexiang Tongxin Dropping Pills (STDP), a traditional Chinese medicine, exerts endothelial protective function by anti-inflammation, anti-oxidative stress, and promoting blood circulation. STDP protects against CMVD in previous fundamental studies. The present trial is aiming at evaluating the effect of STDP on CMVD among depressed or anxious patients with non-obstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD). ⋯ Seventy-two depressed or anxious patients diagnosed with NOCAD combined with CMVD utilizing coronary artery angiography and stress cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) will be recruited in the present study. These patients will be randomized into two groups, namely, Nicorandil group (Nicorandil combined with routine medicine), and STDP groups (STDP combined with routine medicine). The change of CMVD status by assessing absolute myocardial blood flow and myocardial reperfusion using stress CMR 3-month after discharge is defined as the primary endpoint. Major adverse cardiac events (MACEs), quality of life (QOL), and metal disorder improvement are defined as the secondary endpoints. Seattle angina questionnaire (SAQ) which is used to assess angina pectoris and QOL will be recorded at 1-, 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-month of follow-up. Seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and 9-item depression module from the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ9) which utilized to evaluate anxiety and depression, respectively, will be recorded at 1-, 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-month of follow-up. This study will first evaluate the efficacy of STDP on CMVD among patients with a mental disorder and NOCAD, and discuss the potential mechanisms, providing therapeutic evidence for the STDP for these patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
The success of opening concurrent chronic total occlusion lesion to improve cardiac function trial in patients with multi-vessel disease (SOS-moral): Study protocol of a prospective multicenter study.
The purpose of the present trial is to determine whether opening co-existing chronic total occlusions (CTOs) using percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) improves cardiac function in patients with multi-vessel disease (MVD). Patients with MVD are defined as having at least one additional major vessel exhibiting no less than 75% stenosis combined with the presence of a CTO artery. ⋯ The SOS-moral trial will provide data necessary to determine whether to open concurrent CTOs among MVD patients with CMR-detected necrotic myocardial tissue.

To investigate the different expression of epidermal growth factor receptor 1 (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) in gastric cancer based on tumor locations and its impact on patients survival. Gastric cancer is heterogeneous disease, recent years have established a molecular classification and described distribution of molecular subtypes in stomach. However, the difference of EGFR and HER-2 expression among tumor location is still unknown. ⋯ The positive rate of HER-2 expression in cardia was 48.15%, which was significantly higher than fundus (37.5%), corpus (35.45%), and antrum (38.54%) (P = .009), but HER-2 expression did not correlate with 5-year survive (P = .548). Our results suggest that there exist difference of EGFR and HER-2 expression based on tumor locations, and the distribution of EGFR impact on patients survival. Emphasizing the role of EGFR and HER-2 in the context of location contribute to make appropriate treatment strategy and improve prognosis of gastric cancer.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Clinical trial for conventional medicine integrated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of patients with chronic kidney disease.
The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been rapidly increasing and has become one of the most concerned global health problems. It is of good importance to improve therapeutic efficiency of CKD and delay disease progression to end stage renal disease (ESRD). Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a widely used complementary therapy for patients with CKD. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether basic treatment combined with Chinese herbs mixture Qi Gui Yi Shen decoction could achieve better therapeutic effect on CKD patients. ⋯ The results from the clinical trial will provide evidence for the effectiveness and safety of Qi Gui Yi Shen Decoction as a treatment for CKD patients. Furthermore, this will propose a new theory and method for CKD treatment.
