Essential tremor vs idiopathic Parkinson disease: Utility of transcranial sonography.
Substantia nigra (SN) hyperechogenicity measured by transcranial sonography (TCS) is a promising biomarker for Parkinson disease (PD). The aim of this study was to explore the diagnostic accuracy of SN hyperechogenicity (SN) for differentiating PD from essential tremor (ET). A total of 119 patients with PD, 106 ET patients and 112 healthy controls that underwent TCS from November 2016 to February 2019 were included in this single-center retrospective case-control study. ⋯ In addition, measurement of the SN allowed to differentiate between patients with PD and healthy subjects with a sensitivity (91.6% and 90.8%) and specificity (88.4% and 89.3%) for readers 1 and 2, respectively. Interobserver agreement was excellent (к = 0.91). Measurement of SN on TCS images could be a useful tool to distinguishing patients with PD from those with ET.

Clinical and imaging characteristics of hematologic disease complicated by air leak syndrome: A STROBE-compliment observational study.
There are limited systematic studies on hematologic disease complicated by air leak syndrome (ALS). Physicians in radiology departments and hematology departments have a limited awareness of ALS. The aim of this study was to explore the similarities and differences in clinical data between the clinical group and imaging group in patients with hematologic disease complicated by ALS. ⋯ ALS is a high risk in male patients who have a low BMI, have leukemia as a basic disease, and have basic lung diseases (eg, BO/BOOP). CT types are mainly complex ALS, HPT, and pure PT. In addition, clinical symptoms for patients in the HPT group are severe, and there is a high prevalence of catheter drainage.

SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia with subcutaneous emphysema, mediastinal emphysema, and pneumothorax: A case report.
Since the end of 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has affected more than 1,000,000 population in the world. Subcutaneous emphysema and pneumothorax are uncommon complications of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. Herein, we describe a fatal case of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia with subcutaneous emphysema and pneumothorax. ⋯ Subcutaneous emphysema and pneumothorax may occur in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia and chronic pulmonary disease. Chronic cardiac disease might be aggravated by SARS-CoV-2 infection, and develop heart failure.

C1q nephropathy is a rare glomerulopathy characterized by mesangial deposition of the complement component C1q. These deposits can be isolated or associated with immunoglobulins or complement fractions, which are observed by immunofluorescence or immunohistochemical microscopy. In ultramicroscopy, dense mesangial deposits and alterations of the podocyte are observed. ⋯ In light microscopy, it is expressed with a morphological pattern of minimal change disease (MCD), mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis or focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The NS during its evolution usually evolve in steroid resistance or steroid dependency, often requiring the association of immunosuppressants to obtain remission. We report a 14 years old male with a history of NS and its evolution under various treatments during a 12-year follow-up.

[Incidence of thyroid cancer in an oncological clinic of Santiago, Chile].
In Chile, Thyroid cancer (TC) is included in a list of diseases that have a guaranteed access to treatment, endorsed by the Ministry of Health. The care burden of the disease will depend on its incidence. ⋯ The TC incidence herein reported is higher than the figure of 7.9 cases per 100,000 persons/year reported by us in 2014. This difference could be due to a true increase in the incidence of TC, following worldwide trends or to differences in the methods used in both studies.
