The prevalence of tuberculosis infection is critical to the design of tuberculosis prevention strategies, yet is unknown in Canada. We estimated the prevalence of tuberculosis infection among Canadian residents born abroad. ⋯ About 1 in 4 foreign-born Canadian residents has tuberculosis infection, but very few were infected within the 2 preceding years (the highest risk period for progression to tuberculosis disease). These data may inform future tuberculosis infection screening policies.

Implementation of holistic nursing interventions based on fast track surgery concept in patients with lower extremity arterial occlusive disease.
Lower Extremity Arterial Occlusive Disease (LEAOD) is a prevalent condition affecting many patients worldwide, which requires careful management and patient cooperation. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of holistic nursing interventions based on the Fast Track Surgery (FTS) concept in patients with LEAOD. A retrospective analysis of 92 LEAOD patients, randomized into control and experimental groups, was performed. ⋯ Further, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores indicated significantly better sleep quality over time in the experimental group than in the control group (P < .05). The implementation of holistic nursing interventions based on the FTS concept significantly improved patient adherence and sleep quality in LEAOD patients. These findings highlight the potential benefits of integrating such interventions in the management of LEAOD patients, potentially enhancing postoperative recovery and overall health outcomes.

Dry eye disease is one of the most common eye diseases. Clinical studies have found that meibomian gland expression can effectively improve the function of meibomian glands in patients with meibomian gland dysfunction. Compared with traditional appointments, Internet appointment has advantages in treating dry eye disease. ⋯ Spearman correlation coefficient displayed that SOAIB was significantly correlated with EEIB (ρ = -0.247, P < .001) and WMT (ρ = 0.157, P = .006). Internet appointment can effectively reduce the waiting time for dry eye disease treatment by meibomian gland expression. Effectiveness evaluation of Internet appointments is significantly higher than traditional appointments.

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy. The study aimed to evaluate the association and the predictive value of inflammatory indicators in RVO. Sixty patients with RVO and 60 healthy individuals were enrolled in this retrospective study. ⋯ According to receiver operating characteristic analysis, NLR was significant at the good level (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.817, P < .001); SIRI, SII, and MLR were significant at the fair level (AUC = 0.774, P < .001; AUC = 0.733, P < .001, and AUC = 0.724, P < .001, respectively) and PLR (AUC = 0.630, P = .014) was significant at the weak level in terms of RVO prediction. SIRI was superior to other indicators, except NLR, to predict RVO. SIRI, NLR, SII, MLR, and PLR can be used as predictors for identifying the risk of RVO.
