Transient osteoporosis of the hip is indubitably a comparatively infrequent entity affecting both men and women worldwide. Its occurrence in the course of pregnancy, specifically in the third trimester, and lactation are of paramount concernment. The exact association between transient hip osteoporosis and pregnancy is precarious. ⋯ In terms of prognosis, the disease ordinarily resolves spontaneously after a few months. Further research is required in order to elucidate the ambiguity surrounding the establishment of globally approved diagnosis and treatment guidelines for pregnancy-associated transient hip osteoporosis. This paper aims to accentuate the significance of this particular disorder by providing a succinct review of the existing literature, augmenting clinicians' knowledge about the features of pregnancy-related transient proximal femur osteoporosis.

A chronic autoimmune liver disease known as primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) that selectively destructs small intrahepatic biliary epithelial cells and may result in biliary cirrhosis and eventually liver transplantation or death. PBC is associated with various other extrahepatic autoimmune diseases; however, the combination of PBC with ankylosing spondylitis has been rarely reported in the literature. Here, we reported a case of PBC with ankylosing spondylitis to improve our understanding of such coexistence and provide new ideas for the treatment of such patients. ⋯ In the treatment of PBC combined with other disorders, the characteristics of different diseases should be considered. The patient reported herein was treated with 99Tc-MDP and UDCA, and his condition improved; thus, we consider 99Tc-MDP to be an effective treatment. Furthermore, in line with the current understanding of the pathogenesis of PBC and ankylosing spondylitis, we hypothesize that interleukin-17 inhibitor is an effective treatment for such patients.

The coronavirus disease 2019 infection has significantly impacted the world and placed a heavy strain on the medical system and the public, especially those with cardiovascular diseases. Hoverer, the differences in door-to-balloon time and outcomes in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are not known too much. ⋯ SARS-CoV-2 positivity is significantly associated with longer door-to-balloon time and higher in-hospital mortality in STEMI patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention.

A standardized Ashwagandha root extract alleviates stress, anxiety, and improves quality of life in healthy adults by modulating stress hormones: Results from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in a surge in stress, anxiety, and depression worldwide. Ashwagandha, an ayurvedic adaptogen has been traditionally used to manage stress, anxiety, and general well-being. ⋯ The results of the study suggest that ARE with 2.5% withanolides can effectively improve stress and anxiety by reducing cortisol and increasing serotonin in healthy individuals with mild to moderate symptoms.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of several chronic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and periodontitis (PD). RA patients with periodontitis (RA-PD) are associated with elevated inflammatory burden due to increased production of proinflammatory cytokines. Controlling upregulated MMPs activity in these patients may have potential therapeutic effects. Therefore, aim of this study is to address the focused question: "Do RA subjects with concurrent PD have different levels of MMPs in comparison to RA alone, PD alone and HC subjects?" ⋯ RA-PD group showed significantly higher MMP levels in their serum and GCF compared with HC, RA, and PD alone individuals. MMP-8 may serve as a reliable biomarker in the diagnosis and management of RA-PD subjects.
