The increasing incidence of pediatric hospitalizations associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) caused by the B.1.617.2 (delta) variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the United States has offered an opportunity to assess the real-world effectiveness of the BNT162b2 messenger RNA vaccine in adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age. ⋯ Among hospitalized adolescent patients, two doses of the BNT162b2 vaccine were highly effective against Covid-19-related hospitalization and ICU admission or the receipt of life support. Sexual maturity of children on regular hemodialysis: Role of testosterone and estradiol, a tertiary multicenter experience.
A big problem is the delayed growth and sexual maturity in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) with the consequent reduction in adults' height. Testosterone and estradiol have significant physiologic changes in children suffering from CKD, resulting in delayed puberty. We aim to assess blood levels of these hormones in patients with CKD-5 on regular hemodialysis. ⋯ In both patients and controls, Tanner staging & male total s.testosterone levels and female s.estradiol levels had significant positive associations. There was a negative association between the sex hormones levels and the disease's and dialysis duration in the patients' group. S.testosterone and s.estradiol levels were significantly low in CKD patients on dialysis and were positively correlated with delayed pubertal growth observed in those patients.

The study aims to evaluate the characteristics, treatments, and incidence rates of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and tenosynovitis in women with breast cancer, according to the hormone therapy used. We retrospectively reviewed women with breast cancer identified from the clinical data warehouse of the six hospitals in Korea, from January 2015 to August 2020. Among them, patients with CTS or tenosynovitis were reviewed in terms of disease status and treatments. ⋯ More than half of the CTS and tenosynovitis occurred within 12 months after hormone commencement. The incidence and disease characteristics of CTS and tenosynovitis differed among the groups depending on the type of hormone therapy received. Our findings will help clinicians understand clinical courses and treatments for CTS and tenosynovitis in breast cancer patients.

Responses to a Neutralizing Monoclonal Antibody for Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19 According to Baseline Antibody and Antigen Levels : A Randomized Controlled Trial.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical trial, bamlanivimab, a SARS-CoV-2-neutralizing monoclonal antibody, given in combination with remdesivir, did not improve outcomes among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 based on an early futility assessment. ⋯ U.S. government Operation Warp Speed and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Minimal Pilonidal Surgery vs. Common Wide Excision Operations: Better Well-Being and Comparable Recurrence Rates.
Pilonidal disease in the natal cleft is treated traditionally by a wide and deep excision of the affected area. There is growing awareness, however, to the advantages of minimally invasive surgeries. ⋯ Minimally invasive surgeries have the advantage of reducing the extent of surgical injury and preserving patient's quality of life. They should be the treatment of choice for primary pilonidal disease.
