Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP) is an acute complication of hyperthyroidism. Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis is treatable, and the management consists of potassium correction, beta-blockers, and antithyroid drug (ATD) therapy. While TPP is well described in the literature, we describe a case of TPP with urticarial dermographia (UD) that resolved with a short course of antihistamines while continuing ATD therapy. ⋯ Current recommendations are that minor cutaneous reactions can be treated with antihistamines for the management of Graves' disease. However, this case and others show that even moderate reactions can be managed in this manner. In a patient with TPP with UD after treatment with MMI, it is reasonable to attempt a trial of antihistamine before changing to another ATD.

Hashimoto's Encephalopathy with Use of Intravenous Immunoglobulin as First-Line Therapy.
Hashimoto's encephalopathy is an uncommon cause of altered mental status in hospitalized patients and is challenging to diagnose, particularly in the presence of other psychiatric comorbidities. Corticosteroids are the primary treatment. ⋯ He was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) instead of the standard steroid course because of concerns for worsening agitation. The patient had improvement with IVIG infusions, returned to a functional state, and has remained on IVIG therapy monthly since the initial episode without any disease recurrence.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has ravaged the world since December 2019. Up to now, it is still prevalent around the world. Vaccines are an important means to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce severe disease and mortality. ⋯ Among them, the advantages of COVID-19 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine, such as better adaptability to variant strains and better immune response ability, have attracted great attention. However, different populations with different genders, ages, previous COVID-19 infection history, underlying diseases and treatments will show different antibody responses after mRNA vaccination, which will affect the protection of the vaccine. Based on this, this paper reviews the reports related severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 mRNA vaccines, and summarizes the effectiveness of vaccines in different populations and different disease states and looked forward to the precise vaccination strategy of the vaccine in the future.

Povidone-iodine-induced transient triiodothyronine thyrotoxicosis in a Japanese patient with prolonged habitual gargling: A case report and literature review.
Iodine-induced hyperthyroidism and triiodothyronine (T3) thyrotoxicosis in patients who routinely gargle with povidone-iodine (PVP-I) gargling solution are rare in Japan. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first case report that describes PVP-I gargle-induced T3 thyrotoxicosis in a healthy individual without thyroid disease. In Japan, which is an iodine-sufficient country, considering the possibility of high-dose iodine intake-induced thyrotoxicosis due to long-term PVP-I gargling or other causes is necessary, even in individuals with no history of thyroid disease.
