The synergistic effect between nonmalignant lesions can also cause a serious impact on patient survival. This disease involves different organ systems and presents with a variety of clinical manifestations, such as schwannoma, depigmentation, low-grade glioma, and skeletal abnormalities. We report a case of type I neurofibromatosis with an occipital bone defect. ⋯ The synergistic effect between nonmalignant lesions can also cause a serious impact on patient survival to encourage early medical intervention. The clinical presentation of neurofibromatosis type I am usually nonmalignant, and in this case, involvement of the skull with bone defect is very rare. Therefore, it is necessary to accumulate relevant cases, reveal the pathogenesis of the disease, predict the development and outcome, and provide more evidence for early therapeutic intervention of similar patients in the future.

This study aimed to investigate the frailty of patients with restenosis after percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) for peripheral arterial disease, explore the influencing factors, and determine its key factors to take targeted care measures and provide a basis for further interventional care. We recruited as many eligible subjects as possible and a total of 106 patients with restenosis after PTA for peripheral arterial disease in our hospital finished this study from January 2016 to August 2021. The Shorter 12-item version of health-related quality of life scale, Chinese Tilburg debility scale, Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale and activities of daily living score scale were used for investigation, and the independent influencing factors of patients' frailty were evaluated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. ⋯ Logistic regression analysis found that high levels of C-reactive protein (odds ratios [OR] = 1.080, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.012-1.153), diabetes (OR = 2.531, 95% CI 1.024-6.257) and advanced age (OR = 1.170, 95% CI 1.042-1.314) were risk factors for restenosis patients frailty, and higher scores of shorter 12-item version of health-related quality of life scale (OR = 0.889, 95% CI 0.813-0.973) was a protective factor for frailty in these patients. The incidence of debilitation in patients with restenosis after PTA for peripheral arterial disease is high, and high C-reactive protein levels, diabetes mellitus and advanced age are significantly associated with restenosis patients. Improving the quality of life of restenosis patients can reduce the occurrence of frailty.

TCM monotherapy achieves significant efficacy in crizotinib-refractory advanced NSCLC with brain metastasis.
The morbidity and mortality of lung cancer rank the first among all kinds of cancer. In China, anaplastic lymphoma kinase-positive pulmonary tumors account for nearly 5% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and these patients are quite likely to develop brain metastases, as high as around 45%. Although anaplastic lymphoma kinase-tyrosine kinase inhibitors crizotinib and alectinib have proved effective for controlling tumor metastases to the brain, drug resistance and disease progression cannot be ignored in the course of treatment. ⋯ This case is the first 1 in the world where TCM was introduced as monotherapy for severe conditions with extensive brain metastases and achieved remarkable efficacy.

Upregulation and the clinical significance of KCNQ1OT1 and HAGLROS lncRNAs in papillary thyroid cancer: An observational study.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in regulating gene expression. Changes in their expression have been associated with many types of cancer, including thyroid cancer. This study aimed to investigate how changes in the expression of potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 1 opposite strand/antisense transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1) and HAGLR opposite strand lncRNA (HAGLROS) lncRNAs correlate with the development and clinicopathological characteristics of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). ⋯ KCNQ1OT1 expression was linked to microcarcinoma and gender, while HAGLROS expression was linked to microcarcinoma and tumor size. When only microcarcinoma samples were evaluated, KCNQ1OT1 expression was higher in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues; however, no significant difference was observed in HAGLROS expression. Our data suggests that high expressions of KCNQ1OT1 and HAGLROS might contribute to the development of PTC and disease progression, and both lncRNAs may be potential therapeutic targets in PTC patients.

Septic shock is a serious systemic disease with circulatory failure and abnormal cell metabolism caused by sepsis. However, the relationship between CD3D and CD247 and septic shock remains unclear. The septic shock datasets GSE33118 and GSE142255 profiles were generated from the gene expression omnibus databases GPl570, GPl17586. ⋯ Gene expression heat map showed that 5 core genes (CD247, Lck, cd3e, cd3d, ITK) were lowly expressed in the sepsis shock samples and highly expressed in the normal samples. CTD analysis showed that 5 core genes (CD247, Lck, cd3e, cd3d, ITK) were found to be associated with hemorrhage and necrosis. Low expression of cd3d, CD247 was observed in septic shock, and the lower the level of cd3d, CD247, the worse the prognosis.
