COVID-19 Symptom Reporting Compliance Rates Among University Performing Arts Majors.
The COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected the performing arts sector by temporarily closing venues. As venues reopened, COVID-19 symptom self-reporting and monitoring were one tool to identify potentially symptomatic cast and crew, who would then undergo contact tracing, testing, or isolation to prevent spreading COVID-19. However, the compliance rates for submitting a COVID-19 self-monitoring checklist among undergraduate performing art majors remain unknown. ⋯ These findings can help understand the groups of performing artists who would comply with the public health measure of completing a daily symptom checklist for COVID-19 or similar communicable diseases.

The remarkable decline in cigarette smoking since 1964 has plateaued; approximately 12.5% of Americans still smoke. People who continue to smoke are largely members of marginalized groups, such as people with behavioral health conditions (BHC), encompassing both mental health and substance use disorders. Certified smoking cessation interventions can increase smoking abstinence in trials in people with BHC, yet smoking rates remain markedly increased, leading to increased mortality from smoking-related diseases, and worsening health disparities. ⋯ We propose smoking cessation trials utilizing electronic cigarettes in people with BHC. To this goal, the UK has already begun allowing companies to submit their products for approval as medically licensed electronic cigarettes that can be prescribed as smoking cessation aids. Our proposal is timely, backed by evidence, and aims to save hundreds of thousands of American lives.

The symptom "headache" is an interdisciplinary clinical picture with multiple differential diagnoses. On the one hand, headache can be a symptom of harmless diseases, on the other hand, it can be an expression of a serious condition with a high-risk potential for the patient. Radiological cross-sectional imaging, laboratory investigations or a diagnostic lumbar puncture are absent in the prehospital setting. ⋯ Recognition of potentially dangerous causes is also essential for mission tactical reasons (target hospital). A reliable distinction is not always possible prehospital, so that in case of doubt, a presentation to the hospital should be made. Therapeutically, the focus is on treatment according to the ABCDE scheme and symptomatic therapy.
