Multicenter Study Comparative StudyThe attitude towards disease management programs in Austrian heart failure patients: a pilot study comparing rural and urban patients.
Disease Management Programs (DMPs) for heart failure (HF) patients have been developed to better control patients' well-being as well as their daily drug intake. DMPs for HF are not always accepted by the patients, and the reasons for this phenomenon are largely unknown. We hypothesized that patients from rural areas accept a DMP more likely than patients living in a big city. Thus, a pilot study investigated differences in the attitude towards DMPs between HF-patients in one rural and one urban hospital in Austria. ⋯ Structures of the health care system and patients' attitudes must be considered when planning DMPs. Development of DMPs which are accepted by urban patients will be relevant for the future.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-parallel controlled trial for the efficacy and safety of shenfuqiangxin pills in the treatment of chronic heart failure (Heart-Kidney yang deficiency syndrome).
Heart failure (HF) is the final stage of various cardiac diseases with poor prognosis. The integrated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine therapy has been considered as a prospective therapeutic strategy for chronic heart failure (CHF). There have been small clinical trials and experimental studies to demonstrate the efficacy of Shenfu Qiangxin Pills (SFQX) for treating CHF, however, there is still a lack of further high-quality trial. This paper describes the protocol for the clinical assessment of SFQX in CHF (heart-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome) patients. ⋯ The integrated TCM and western medicine therapy has developed into a treatment model in China. The rigorous design of the trial will assure an objective and scientific assessment of the efficacy and safety of SFQX in the treatment of CHF.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
The success of opening concurrent chronic total occlusion lesion to improve cardiac function trial in patients with multi-vessel disease (SOS-moral): Study protocol of a prospective multicenter study.
The purpose of the present trial is to determine whether opening co-existing chronic total occlusions (CTOs) using percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) improves cardiac function in patients with multi-vessel disease (MVD). Patients with MVD are defined as having at least one additional major vessel exhibiting no less than 75% stenosis combined with the presence of a CTO artery. ⋯ The SOS-moral trial will provide data necessary to determine whether to open concurrent CTOs among MVD patients with CMR-detected necrotic myocardial tissue.

Factors limiting habitual exercise in patients with chronic heart failure: a multicenter prospective cohort study.
Physical activity (PA) in the daily life is strongly related to prognosis in patients with or at high risk of heart failure (HF). However, factors limiting habitual exercise and their prognostic impacts remain unknown in HF patients. We sent questionnaires asking factors limiting habitual exercise in the daily life to 8370 patients with Stage A/B/C/D HF in our nationwide registry and received valid responses from 4935 patients (mean age 71.8 years, 71.0% male). ⋯ Factors limiting habitual exercise were associated with "busyness" and "diseases", but not with "weak will", "dislike, or "socioeconomic reasons". While "busyness" was associated with better prognosis regardless of age and sex, "diseases" was associated with worse prognosis in younger populations. Thus, physicians may pay more attentions to the reasons that limit exercise in the daily lives of HF patients rather than the low amount of exercise itself.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyPrevalence and Impact of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Atrial Fibrillation.
To estimate the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its impact on bleeding and thrombotic events in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). ⋯ NAFLD is highly prevalent in AF but is not associated with higher bleeding or thrombotic risk.
