Numerous randomised clinical trials and real-world studies have supported the safety of paclitaxel-coated devices for the treatment of femoropopliteal occlusive disease. However, a 2018 summary-level meta-analysis suggested an increased mortality risk for paclitaxel-coated devices compared with uncoated control devices. This study presents an updated analysis of deaths using the most complete and current data available from pivotal trials of paclitaxel-coated versus control devices. ⋯ Becton Dickinson, Boston Scientific, Cook, Medtronic, Philips, Surmodics, and TriReme Medical.

To investigate the effect of Vertebral augmentation (VA) in the treatment of single-level osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) on new vertebral fractures. ⋯ VA is associated with an increased risk of new vertebral fractures and adjacent vertebral fractures following single-level OVCFs. With longer follow-ups, new vertebral fractures may be more significant. Clinical surgeons should pay attention to long-term postoperative complications and choose treatment carefully.

Severe community-acquired pneumonia (sCAP) is characterized by severe symptoms and a poor prognosis, especially with the recent global impact of novel coronavirus in recent years. The use of glucocorticoids in sCAP is currently a subject of debate. To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of glucocorticoids and provide guidance for their rational use in clinical practice, we conducted this study. ⋯ Glucocorticoids reduced the duration of mechanical ventilation duration and vasoactive drug use in sCAP patients without increasing the risk of adverse events including hyperglycemia and multiple infections. However, there was no significant difference in mortality or length of hospital stay in sCAP patients between glucocorticoid and non-glucocorticoid groups. Glucocorticoids could be recommended for patients with sCAP with respiratory failure or hemodynamic instability.

Perimenopausal insomnia (PMI) is a relatively common menopausal symptom that can cause serious problems for the women themselves and their families. Today, the world is facing the trend and challenges of an aging population. It is reported that about 1.5 million women worldwide enter menopause every year, with sleep disorder identified as a core symptom. The efficacy of acupuncture combined with traditional Chinese medicine for treating PMI has been recognized by patients and doctors. ⋯ The current analysis results show that acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine seems to have a more positive effect than western medicine alone in improving sleep and FSHF in PMI patients, but no difference has been found in improving E2 and LH. This study provides a basis for acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine to treat PMI. However, due to the higher risk of evaluation in included studies, more rigorous randomized controlled trials and higher quality studies are needed to validate included studies.

Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) is an inflammatory biomarker that is used to predict mortality, readmission, early discharge, and LOS, thus, serves as a useful tool for ED physicians. Our study aims to analyze the efficacy of suPAR in predicting these prognostic markers in ED. ⋯ suPAR is proven to be a significant marker in predicting 30-day and 90-day mortality in ED patients.
