Efficacy and safety of ligelizumab in adults and adolescents with chronic spontaneous urticaria: results of two phase 3 randomised controlled trials.
Many patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) do not achieve complete control of their symptoms with current available treatments. In a dose-finding phase 2b study, ligelizumab improved urticaria symptoms in patients with H1-antihistamine (H1-AH) refractory CSU. Here, we report the efficacy and safety outcomes from two ligelizumab phase 3 studies. ⋯ Novartis Pharma.

Most patients with metastatic cancer eventually develop resistance to systemic therapy, with some having limited disease progression (ie, oligoprogression). We aimed to assess whether stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) targeting oligoprogressive sites could improve patient outcomes. ⋯ National Cancer Institute.

Biodegradable microneedle acupuncture has equivalent efficacy to traditional intradermal acupuncture for dry eye disease: A pilot single-blinded, randomized controlled trial.
Dry eye disease (DED) is a common ocular disorder in which the tear film cannot maintain homeostasis. Acupuncture has been used to treat DED in Korean medicine. Particularly, intradermal acupuncture (IDA) is less painful and enables free movement after treatment. However, it can also provoke allergic reactions to metal. To overcome this, biodegradable microneedle acupuncture (BMA) has been developed. This study compared BMA with traditional IDA in terms of efficacy and safety in patients with DED. ⋯ BMA and IDA had the same therapeutic effect for improving DED and both were safe. BMA can be used in patients with DED as an alternative to traditional IDA.

Telemedical Monitoring of Plantar Temperature in Diabetic Patients at Risk of Foot Ulcers—The Randomized Smart Prevent Diabetic Feet Trial.
The worldwide prevalence of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) among persons with diabetes is estimated at 6.3%, with an annual incidence of 9.1 to 26.1 million persons. The early detection of asymmetrical plantar temperature elevation, followed by reduction of weight-bearing on the affected foot, may be an effective mode of prevention. ⋯ The tele-health system used in this trial is practical and enables the early detection of morbidity. Likely explanations for the unexpectedly low ulceration rate in this trial (and, in turn, for the lack of statistical significance) include the availability of a training program and regular follow-up examinations to patients in both arms of the trial, along with lower mobility levels due to the COVID pandemic.

The impact of preoperative interview and prospective nursing on perioperative psychological stress and postoperative complications in patients undergoing TACE intervention for hepatocellular carcinoma.
TACE has become one of the main methods for the treatment of liver cancer. The study aimed to investigate the effects of preoperative interview and prospective nursing in patients with hepatic carcinoma undergoing transcatheter chemoembolization (TACE). Eighty-six patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent TACE intervention treatment at our hospital between 2020 and 2023 were selected and randomly assigned to 2 groups using computerized randomization. ⋯ Compared to the control group, the study group showed a decrease in NRS scores at 12, 24, and 48 hours after the operation (P < .05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the study group patients was 97.67% (42/43), which was higher than the nursing satisfaction rate of the control group of 76.74% (33/43) (P < .05). Compared to routine nursing, preoperative visits and prospective nursing interventions can effectively alleviate patients' psychological stress reactions, relieve pain, reduce the incidence of complications, and improve patients' satisfaction with nursing care.
