Multicenter Study Observational StudyThe Association of Corticosteroids and Pediatric Sepsis Biomarker Risk Model (PERSEVERE)-II Biomarker Risk Stratification With Mortality in Pediatric Septic Shock.
Mortality risk stratification may identify a subset of children who benefit from or are harmed by corticosteroid administration. The Pediatric Sepsis Biomarker Risk Model (PERSEVERE)-II score is a biomarker-based mortality risk stratification tool for pediatric sepsis. Our objective was to assess the association of corticosteroid administration with 28-day mortality within different levels of baseline mortality risk (PERSEVERE-II) in a cohort of children with septic shock. ⋯ In our multicenter observational study, corticosteroid administration was associated with increased mortality in a subgroup of children with a high PERSEVERE-II risk score.

Multicenter StudyCritical Care and Mechanical Ventilation Practices Surrounding Liver Transplantation in Children: A Multicenter Collaborative.
We aimed to determine which characteristics and management approaches were associated with postoperative invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and with a prolonged course of IMV in children post liver transplant as well as describing the utilization of critical care resources. ⋯ Younger age, preoperative hospitalization, large center size, and open fascia are associated with use of IMV, and younger age, large center size, and postoperative day 0 PIP are associated with prolonged IMV on multivariable analysis. Longer IMV is associated with negative outcomes, making it an important clinical marker.

Multicenter StudyClinical Experiences and Selection of Accessory Devices for Pediatric Endoscopic Foreign Body Removal: A Retrospective Multicenter Study in Korea.
Swallowing of foreign bodies (FBs) is the most common indication of therapeutic endoscopy in children. Endoscopic removal may be necessary depending on the type of FB, age of the child, and location of the FB. We attempted to analyze the characteristics of each device used for the endoscopic removal of FBs in children. ⋯ The endoscopic procedure duration, in low-weight children, was shorter when retrieval nets were used than that with forceps.
