Neurocutaneous melanosis is characterized by melanin-producing cells within the skin, leptomeninges, or brain parenchyma. It is a severe manifestation of congenital melanocytic nevus syndrome and can develop malignant melanomas. The disorder is commonly present in pediatric patients within the first two years of life and has a poor prognosis. We report a case of an 8-year-old male with epilepsy and cognitive deficit presenting spinal neurocutaneous melanosis.

Differences in the rates of admission and major orthopedic surgery care between Turkish and displaced children injured in a major earthquake.
The burden of displacement makes child refugees, asylum seekers, and migrant children less resistant to medical problems. On February 6, 2023, the southeast and the southcentral regions of Türkiye were struck by two sequential large earthquakes. The study aimed to analyze the characteristics of musculoskeletal injuries and the initial orthopedic surgery data resulting from the earthquake and compare the differences between Turkish and displaced children, particularly those who underwent major musculoskeletal interventions at the four state hospitals of the Adana metropolitan region. ⋯ The study revealed that after the severe earthquake disaster, the state hospitals of the Adana metropolitan region provided unbiased healthcare for all the region's children. Regarding orthopedic care, the response was given accordingly in this particular disaster, highlighting that level I trauma centers should always be ready for such intensity due to the short preparation time in case of a severe disaster.

Background and Objectives: Robot-assisted extravesical ureteral reimplantation (REVUR) has been described as valuable alternative to open reimplantation in the pediatric population. This study aimed to report the outcome of REVUR in children with complex obstructed megaureter (COM) needing ureteral dismembering and/or tapering. Materials and Methods: The records of patients with COM, who received REVUR with ureteral dismembering and/or tapering over the last 3 years (2021-2024), were retrospectively reviewed. ⋯ At median follow-up of 34.5 months, all patients were asymptomatic and showed improved hydroureteronephrosis on ultrasound and improved drainage on diuretic renogram. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that robot-assisted extravesical ureteral reimplantation is a safe and effective treatment for primary obstructive megaureter and other complex ureteral anomalies in our patient cohort. The procedure showed low complication rates, high success rates, and favorable long-term outcomes, supporting the feasibility and effectiveness of robotic surgery for these conditions.

The management of foreign body airway obstruction has evolved over time from back blows and chest thrusts to abdominal thrusts. However, current guidelines worldwide are based on outdated data, with unclear evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of these rescue manoeuvres. Concerns persist about the potential of these techniques to cause injury, especially in children; therefore, a critical revision to ensure optimal child safety is necessary. ⋯ First aid guidelines and recommendations for paediatric choking are divergent and generally grounded in low-quality evidence derived primarily from case studies. Studies since 2015 have shown highly diverse methodologies and often lack details on the execution of individual techniques, body positioning or the specific characteristics of study groups, which are crucial when comparing the effectiveness and safety of rescue manoeuvres. Updating evidence-based scientific knowledge for future recommendations is crucial.
