Although survivors of childhood cancer are at an increased risk, little is known about the prevalence of chronic pain, associated interference, and daily pain experiences. Survivors (N = 233; mean age = 40.8 years, range 22-64 years; mean time since diagnosis = 32.7 years) from the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study completed pain and psychosocial measures. Survivors with chronic pain completed 2-week, daily measures assessing pain and psychological symptoms using mHealth-based ecological momentary assessment. ⋯ For male, but not female survivors, low sleep quality, elevated anxiety, and elevated depression predicted high pain intensity and interference the next day. A substantial proportion of childhood cancer survivors experience chronic pain and significant associated interference. Chronic pain should be routinely evaluated, and interventions are needed.

The recreational use of psilocybin or psilocin-containing products, a chemical found naturally in certain mushroom species, is on the rise across the United States. Several cases of serious clinical effects related to mushroom-containing products have recently been reported to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The emergence of these new products and their health consequences are not yet well understood. This case series aims to characterize exposures to mushroom-containing chocolate products, including patient characteristics, clinical effects, treatment(s), and clinical outcome severity, reported to a poison center network. ⋯ While most patients in this series experienced minor clinical effects, some developed serious effects after ingestion of a mushroom-containing chocolate product. Findings from this study further characterize the limited patient demographics, clinical effects, and outcomes published thus far. Further characterization in a larger cohort of patients could expand on our initial findings and is needed to better identify factors that may influence clinical outcomes.

Decreasing Invasive Urinary Tract Infection Screening in a Pediatric Emergency Department to Improve Quality of Care.
Obtaining urine samples in younger children undergoing urinary tract infection (UTI) screening can be challenging in busy emergency departments (EDs), and sterile techniques, like catheterization, are invasive, traumatizing, and time consuming to complete. Noninvasive techniques have been shown to reduce catheterization rates but are variably implemented. Our aim was to implement a standardized urine bag UTI screening approach in febrile children aged 6 to 24 months to decrease the number of unnecessary catheterizations by 50% without impacting ED length of stay (LOS) or return visits (RVs). ⋯ A urine bag screening pathway was successfully implemented to decrease unnecessary, invasive catheterizations for UTI screening in children with only a slight increase in ED LOS. In addition to the urine bag pathway, an ED nursing champion, strategic alignment, and broad provider engagement were all instrumental in the initiative's success.

Unmasking bocavirus: is it a co-infectious agent or an actual respiratory pathogen?
Although human bocavirus (HBoV) is primarily linked to respiratory tract infections, its exact role as a respiratory pathogen remains unclear. This study aims to investigate HBoV detection rates, as well as clinical, laboratory, microbiological, and radiological characteristics, length of stay in the emergency department (ED), rate of hospitalization, and severity of illness in cases where HBoV is detected in respiratory secretions. ⋯ Although typically mild, HBoV infections can escalate to severe respiratory illnesses, requiring respiratory support and intensive care.
