Multicenter StudyA clinical decision rule for the use of plain radiography in children after acute wrist injury: development and external validation of the Amsterdam Pediatric Wrist Rules.
In most hospitals, children with acute wrist trauma are routinely referred for radiography. ⋯ The decision model may be a valuable tool to decide whether radiography in children after wrist trauma is required.

Multicenter StudyVital Statistics: Estimating Injury Mortality in Kigali, Rwanda.
Globally, injury deaths largely occur in low- and middle-income countries. No estimates of injury associated mortality exist in Rwanda. This study aimed to describe the patterns of injury-related deaths in Kigali, Rwanda using existing data sources. ⋯ Injuries account for 22% of deaths in Kigali with road traffic crashes being the most common cause.Injury deaths occurred largely in the prehospital setting and within the first 24 h of hospital arrival suggesting the need for investment in emergency infrastructure. Accurate documentation of the cause of death would help policy makers make data-driven resource allocation decisions.

Surgical Consent of Children and Guardians For The Treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis is Incompletely Informed.
Prospective, multicenter cohort analysis. ⋯ Patients who undergo surgical intervention for AIS and their guardians understand approximately 60% of the surgical consent. The use of preoperative multimodal teaching techniques and "peer-support groups" may improve patient and guardian comprehension.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
The effect of iodine supplementation in pregnancy on early childhood neurodevelopment and clinical outcomes: results of an aborted randomised placebo-controlled trial.
Concern that mild iodine deficiency in pregnancy may adversely affect neurodevelopment of offspring has led to recommendations for iodine supplementation in the absence of evidence from randomised controlled trials. The primary objective of the study was to investigate the effect of iodine supplementation during pregnancy on childhood neurodevelopment. Secondary outcomes included pregnancy outcomes, maternal thyroid function and general health. ⋯ Iodine supplementation in pregnancy did not result in better childhood neurodevelopment in this small trial. Adequately powered randomised controlled trials are needed to provide conclusive evidence regarding the effect of iodine supplementation in pregnancy.

Multicenter StudyAKI in Children Hospitalized with Nephrotic Syndrome.
Children with nephrotic syndrome can develop life-threatening complications, including infection and thrombosis. While AKI is associated with adverse outcomes in hospitalized children, little is known about the epidemiology of AKI in children with nephrotic syndrome. The main objectives of this study were to determine the incidence, epidemiology, and hospital outcomes associated with AKI in a modern cohort of children hospitalized with nephrotic syndrome. ⋯ AKI is common in children hospitalized with nephrotic syndrome and should be deemed the third major complication of nephrotic syndrome in children in addition to infection and venous thromboembolism. Risk factors for AKI include steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome, infection, and nephrotoxic medication exposure. Children with AKI have longer hospital lengths of stay and increased need for intensive care unit admission.
