Methocarbamol versus diazepam in acute low back pain in the emergency department: a randomised double-blind clinical trial.
Acute low back pain (LBP) is a common complaint in the emergency department and achieving effective analgesia can be challenging. ⋯ In patients with LBP, the pain was relieved in the methocarbamol and diazepam groups after 60 min. Although diazepam was more effective, its use was associated with a slightly higher risk of drowsiness.

A post-hoc subgroup analysis of prospective collected data in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of minimally invasive discectomy was conducted, to find out the possible underlying reasons for patients with persistent low back pain (LBP) following surgery. ⋯ LFJOA is a possible underlying reason for patients with persistent LBP after minimally invasive discectomy. Surgeons should carefully review the preoperative radiological images to find out whether there is LFJOA in the LDH segment, and kindly diminish the expectation of back pain relief for those patients.

Cognitive functional therapy with or without movement sensor biofeedback versus usual care for chronic, disabling low back pain (RESTORE): a randomised, controlled, three-arm, parallel group, phase 3, clinical trial.
Low back pain is the leading cause of years lived with disability globally, but most interventions have only short-lasting, small to moderate effects. Cognitive functional therapy (CFT) is an individualised approach that targets unhelpful pain-related cognitions, emotions, and behaviours that contribute to pain and disability. Movement sensor biofeedback might enhance treatment effects. We aimed to compare the effectiveness and economic efficiency of CFT, delivered with or without movement sensor biofeedback, with usual care for patients with chronic, disabling low back pain. ⋯ Australian National Health and Medical Research Council and Curtin University.

High-Definition Transcranial Infraslow Pink-Noise Stimulation Can Influence Functional and Effective Cortical Connectivity in Individuals With Chronic Low Back Pain: A Pilot Randomized Placebo-Controlled Study.
Pain can be regarded as an emergent property of multiple interacting, dynamically changing brain networks and thus needs a targeted treatment approach. A novel high-definition transcranial infraslow pink-noise stimulation (HD-tIPNS) technique was developed to modulate the key hubs of the three main nociceptive pathways simultaneously, ie, the pregenual anterior cingulate cortex (pgACC) (descending inhibitory pathway), the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) (medial nociceptive pathway), and both somatosensory cortices (S1) (lateral nociceptive pathway). This study aimed to evaluate safety and verify whether a single session of HD-tIPNS may disrupt functional and effective connectivity between targeted cortical regions. ⋯ The Clinicaltrials.gov registration number for the study is ACTRN12621001438842.
