Influence of rosuvastatin dose on total fatty acids and free fatty acids in plasma: Correlations with lipids involved in cholesterol homeostasis.
This study investigates for the first time the influence of four doses of rosuvastatin on total fatty acids (TFA) and free fatty acids (FFA) in human plasma and correlates their changes in concentration with changes in the concentration of other lipids involved in cholesterol homeostasis. This study was a placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, crossover experiment. The study used a single group of 16 men and consisted of 5 treatment periods lasting 4 weeks each with placebo and 4 doses of rosuvastatin (5, 10, 20, and 40 mg). ⋯ The concentrations of TFA and FFA are significantly influenced by the dose of rosuvastatin. They are strongly correlated with those of other lipids and lipoproteins involved in cholesterol homeostasis. The mechanisms of cholesterol homeostasis regulation are involved in changing the concentrations of TFA and FFA.

Flipped classroom combined with human anatomy web-based learning system shows promising effects in anatomy education.
Flipped classroom has received much attention in medical education. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of flipped classroom combing with human anatomy web-based learning system in anatomy education. A total of 89 freshmen in medical specialty were enrolled and randomly allocated into either the experimental group (receiving the flipped classroom with human anatomy web-based learning system, n = 45) or control group (receiving the traditional classroom teaching, n = 44). ⋯ However, the mean post-quiz score in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (91.44 ± 6.25 vs 86.13 ± 11.67, P < .05). The results of questionnaires showed that 44 (97.8%) students agreed with flipped classroom combined with human anatomy web-based learning system, 43 (95.6%) students obtained improved study interest in anatomy learning, and 42 (93.3%) students felt that the interactive, applied in-class activities during the class greatly enhanced their learning. Flipped classroom combined with human anatomy web-based learning system can be used as an effective learning tool for anatomy education.

Effects of positive dispatcher encouragement on the maintenance of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation quality.
Implementation of dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DACPR) has increased the likelihood of bystander CPR upon cardiac arrest. However, the quality of CPR has been found to be very low. In this study, we aimed to compare CPR quality between the current DACPR practices and the interventional instruction of adding verbal encouragement from the dispatcher. ⋯ To maintain the quality of CPR administered by bystanders, continuous feedback and repeated human encouragement should be provided during DACPR. Active dispatcher intervention reduces the time required to reach an appropriate CPR rate and allows for the maintenance of accurate compression rates.

Phase I/II study of COVID-19 RNA vaccine BNT162b1 in adults.
In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)1, a pandemic. With rapidly accumulating numbers of cases and deaths reported globally2, a vaccine is urgently needed. Here we report the available safety, tolerability and immunogenicity data from an ongoing placebo-controlled, observer-blinded dose-escalation study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT04368728) among 45 healthy adults (18-55 years of age), who were randomized to receive 2 doses-separated by 21 days-of 10 μg, 30 μg or 100 μg of BNT162b1. ⋯ RBD-binding IgG concentrations and SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing titres in sera increased with dose level and after a second dose. Geometric mean neutralizing titres reached 1.9-4.6-fold that of a panel of COVID-19 convalescent human sera, which were obtained at least 14 days after a positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR. These results support further evaluation of this mRNA vaccine candidate.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical TrialStratified versus usual care for the management of primary care patients with sciatica: the SCOPiC RCT.
Sciatica has a substantial impact on patients and society. Current care is 'stepped', comprising an initial period of simple measures of advice and analgesia, for most patients, commonly followed by physiotherapy, and then by more intensive interventions if symptoms fail to resolve. No study has yet tested a model of stratified care in which patients are subgrouped and matched to different care pathways based on their prognosis and clinical characteristics. ⋯ Other approaches to stratified care may provide superior outcomes for sciatica.
