Randomized Controlled TrialEvaluation of continuous aspiration of subglottic secretions in prevention of microaspiration during general anesthesia: a randomized controlled pilot study.
To assess the difference between endotracheal tubes (ETT) with continuous suction of subglottic secretions (CASS) and standard ETT in preventing secretions movement from the pharynx into the trachea, past the inflated cuff during general anesthesia. ⋯ Compared with standard ETT, ETT with CASS efficiently removed secretions during general anesthesia, prevented secretions from migrating past the inflated cuff, and significantly reduced the amount of secretions that reached the distal airways on tracheal extubation.

Background and Objectives: Pain during and after the procedure remains the leading concern among women undergoing cesarean section. Numerous studies have concluded that the type of anesthesia used during a cesarean section undoubtedly affects the intensity and experience of pain after the operation. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted at the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics, Clinical Center "Dragisa Misovic-Dedinje", Belgrade, Serbia. ⋯ On pain attribute scale intensity, GEA had significantly higher postoperative pain levels within all intervals. Patients who received RA had a shorter time to first oral food intake, first independent mobilization, and faster lactation onset in contrast to GEA. Conclusions: The application of RA presented superior postoperative pain relief, resulting in earlier mobilization, shorter time to first oral food intake, and faster lactation onset in contrast to GEA.

Comparison of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block-2 and quadratus lumborum block-3 for postoperative pain in cesarean section: A randomized clinical trial.
The aim of this study was to compare the postoperative analgesic effects of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block-2 (QLB-2) and quadratus lumborum block-3 (QLB-3) after cesarean section (C/S) under general anesthesia. ⋯ This study demonstrated that, although both QLBs were safe and reliable, QLB-3 provides more effective analgesia and patient satisfaction than QLB-2 in C/S.

Effect of systolic blood pressure fluctuations during resuscitation on postoperative complications following meningioma surgery: A retrospective observation study.
It is unclear whether blood pressure variability in the post-anesthesia care unit is associated with postoperative complications. This study aims to characterize the impact of blood pressure fluctuations on postoperative complications and postoperative length of stay after meningioma surgery. Adult meningioma patients undergoing general anesthesia were retrospectively recruited. ⋯ The multivariable analysis found that increased systolic blood pressure variability in the post-anesthesia care unit was associated with postoperative complications (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.15; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.09-1.22, P < .001) and prolonged postoperative length of stay (adjusted regression coefficients [β] = 1.86; 95% CI, 0.58-3.13, P = .004). Patients with postoperative complications had a higher frequency of intensive care admission (44.1% vs 15.3%), major postoperative interventions (6.6% vs 0%), and 30-day readmission (5.0% vs 0.7%). Systolic blood pressure fluctuations during resuscitation have an independent impact on postoperative complications and postoperative length of stay following meningioma surgery.
