Effect of peripheral magnetic stimulation on acute and chronic pain after surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Peripheral magnetic stimulation (PMS) is a potentially promising modality to help manage postoperative pain. We systematically reviewed the effect of PMS on acute and chronic postoperative pain. MEDLINE, Cochrane CENTRAL, EMBASE, ProQuest Dissertations, and clinical trials.gov were searched from inception until May 2021. ⋯ High-quality and adequately blinded trials are needed to definitively confirm the benefits of peripheral magnetic stimulation administered in the perioperative period. PERSPECTIVE: This review evaluates the efficacy and safety of PMS on postoperative pain. The results help elucidate PMS' role in postoperative pain management and identify gaps where more research is required.

Novel Spinal Cord Stimulation Waveforms for Treating Back and Leg Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has been suggested as a treatment option to improve the quality-adjusted life years of individuals with low back pain. However, previous reviews have some methodologic limitations. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of novel SCS waveforms on pain outcomes in patients with low back pain (LBP) compared with traditional SCS or placebo comparator. ⋯ With low certainty of evidence, this finding provides a rationale for considering the novel SCS waveform as complements to the usual therapeutic plan. Future trials should adopt well-designed RCTs with larger sample size and follow-up assessment.

Online pain management programs for chronic, widespread musculoskeletal conditions: A systematic review with meta-analysis.
Face-to-face pain management programs demonstrate positive clinical outcomes in the chronic pain population by improving pain intensity and attitudes, depression, and functional disability scores. The effects of this modality carried out online is less known, particularly in subgroups of chronic pain. This systematic review assessed the effects of online pain management programs in chronic, widespread musculoskeletal conditions on pain measurements (intensity, interference, coping, and catastrophizing), health-related quality of life, depression, and anxiety scores immediately post-intervention. ⋯ Guided interventions (regular interaction with an instructor) appeared to be superior to self-completed interventions. Future research should standardize outcome measures for assessing pain, use active control groups, and analyze other outcome measures such as cost and long-term effects. This study was registered with Prospero on August 15, 2021 (CRD42021267565).

Pain Management Interventions for the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Determine the relative effectiveness and safety profiles of percutaneous and minimally invasive interventions for chronic low back pain. ⋯ BVN ablation, biological therapy, and multifidus stimulation all provide significant, durable improvements in both pain and disability compared with other interventions, which provided only short-term pain relief. Studies on BVN ablation reported no SAEs, a significantly better result than for studies of biological therapy and multifidus stimulation.
