Multiple symmetric lipomatosis (MSL) is a very uncommon disease. Its etiopathogenesis is uncertain, although it has been linked to a variety of factors. Its main characteristic is the overgrowth of fat in form of an unencapsulated lesion. ⋯ A clinical diagnosis of gynecomastia was initially made. Partial mastectomy was done and MSL was reported on histopathologic examination. Our literature search revealed no previous case of MSL in the breast reported from our environment.

ReviewRecent advances in clinical diagnosis and treatment of male factor infertility.
Infertility is a significant global health issue affecting around 8-12% of couples worldwide with male factor infertility accounting for a substantial proportion of these cases. Despite significant advances within the past few decades, an etiology for male factor infertility cannot be identified in up to 80% of patients and thus, this continues to be an area of active study. This review aims to provide an update on recent advances in the field of male infertility including semen analysis and at-home semen testing, genetics, DNA fragmentation, surgical approaches, and the rise of telemedicine in the era of COVID19.

Aging is a well-recognized risk factor for sleep disruption. The characteristics of sleep in aging include its disruption by frequent awakenings, a decline in both non-rapid eye movement (nonREM) and REM sleep amounts, and a weaker homeostatic response to sleep loss. Evidence also suggests that sleep in females is more sensitive to changes in the ovarian steroidal milieu. ⋯ We determined sleep-waking features of cycling females across estrus stages. We also compared spontaneous and homeostatic sleep response profiles of young (3-4 months) and old (24-25 months) male and female Fischer-344 rats. The results suggest that: i) sleep-wake architectures across stages of estrus cycle in young females were largely comparable except for a significant suppression of REM sleep at proestrus night and an increase in REM sleep the following day; ii) despite hormonal differences, sleep-wake architecture in male and female rats of corresponding ages were comparable except for the suppression of REM sleep at proestrus night and higher nonREM delta power in recovery sleep; and iii) aging significantly affected sleep-wake amounts, sleep-wake stability, and homeostatic response to sleep loss in both male and female rats and that the adverse effects of aging were largely comparable in both sexes.

ReviewEstimated and projected prevalence of tobacco smoking in males, Eastern Mediterranean Region, 2000-2025.
Three global reports published by the World Health Organization (WHO) report trends in the prevalence of tobacco smoking from 2000 to 2025 based on data from national surveys. ⋯ Countries of the Region need to conduct additional national tobacco-use surveys to improve the accuracy of prevalence estimates and projections. Such data can help guide policy-makers to implement policies to control tobacco smoking.

Bystander CPR (B-CPR) is known to be a critical action in treating out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Immediate CPR may double a patient's chance of survival. Only 40% of OHCA patients receive B-CPR (Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival1). Civilians may be more comfortable performing CPR on male than female victims based on stereotyped training and the culture of cardiac disease treatment. ⋯ There was a significantly lower rate of B-CPR in women experiencing OCHA in the population sample analyzed. Continued education and research are needed on the topic to address gender-specific differences in OHCA.
