Randomized Controlled TrialModified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
A new block, namely, modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach, is administered below the costal cartilage. We sought to compare the analgesic efficacy of the modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach block with local anesthetic infiltration at the port sites in an adult population who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Patients who received modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach block had significantly less analgesic consumption and better pain scores than those who received port-site injections after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the effect of intramuscular injection from two different sites on pain and fear in children: a randomized controlled study.
This study aims to compare vastus lateralis and ventrogluteal site utilizations concerning pain and fear in intramuscular injection in children between 4 and 6 years of age. ⋯ The results of the study showed that the choice of the ventrogluteal site in intramuscular injection in children between 4 and 6 years of age was effective in reducing pain, fear, and crying time.

Immersive Virtual Reality for Pain Control and Anxiolysis During IV Blood Draws in Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate immersive virtual reality's (IVR) effectiveness as a distraction in reducing perceived pain and anxiety among adults undergoing intravenous (IV) blood draw. ⋯ The results of our study demonstrated that there was no significantly lower perceived pain or anxiety when using IVR compared to standard practice in adults undergoing IV blood draw.

Randomized Controlled TrialClinical and electrophysiological efficacy of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy in carpal tunnel syndrome: a placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy on pain, functionality, and electrophysiological measurements in carpal tunnel syndrome. ⋯ This study shows that radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy has positive effects on pain, functionality, and electrophysiological measurements for mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome 1 month after application.

Effectiveness of a Virtual Program on Nurses' Pain-Related Knowledge and Pain-Measurement Skills.
Aim: To test whether a comprehensive virtual program for using pain scales to manage neonatal pain improved nurses' knowledge and skill acquisition. ⋯ The results showed that the e-learning program improved nurses' neonatal pain knowledge and pain-measurement skills compared with no training.
