Multicenter StudyPain response and quality of life assessment in patients with moderate/severe neuropathic pain due to bone metastasis undergoing treatment with palliative radiotherapy and tapentadol: A prospective multicentre pilot study.
To assess pain response rate (RR) and quality of life (QoL), in patients with moderate/severe neuropathic pain (NP) due to bone metastasis (BM) undergoing palliative 3D radiotherapy plus tapentadol. ⋯ Palliative radiotherapy plus tapentadol shows an acceptable pain response and QoL improvement especially regarding EF, fatigue and painful site symptom scales in patients with moderate/severe NP due to BM. Therefore, it could be an alternative to manage NP in daily practice.

10 kHz SCS for chronic postsurgical pain: Results from a 12-month prospective, multicenter study.
Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) can be caused by peripheral nerve injury (PNI) resulting from surgical procedures and has a significant neuropathic component. This prospective, single-arm study was conducted to document the effectiveness of 10-kHz spinal cord stimulation (10-kHz SCS) as a treatment for patients with CPSP. ⋯ 10-kHz SCS is effective and tolerated in patients with CPSP, and further study of its clinical application in this population is warranted.

Long-term safety and efficacy of mirogabalin in Asian patients with postherpetic neuralgia: Results from an open-label extension of a multicenter randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a condition that results from nerve dysfunction following an episode of acute herpes zoster (shingles). Mirogabalin is a novel, selective oral α2δ ligand that demonstrated safety and efficacy in a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 14-week study in Asian patients with PHN. This 52-week, open-label extension study investigated the long-term safety and efficacy of flexible-dosage mirogabalin in Asian patients with PHN. ⋯ Mirogabalin-a novel α2δ oral ligand-was shown to be effective and well tolerated for treating postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in an Asian multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 14-week study. This open-label, 52-week study was conducted as an extension of the double-blind study to demonstrate long-term safety and efficacy of mirogabalin.

Multicenter StudyEvidence for a novel subcortical mechanism for posterior cingulate cortex atrophy in HIV peripheral neuropathy.
We previously reported that neuropathic pain was associated with smaller posterior cingulate cortical (PCC) volumes, suggesting that a smaller/dysfunctional PCC may contribute to development of pain via impaired mind wandering. A gap in our previous report was lack of evidence for a mechanism for the genesis of PCC atrophy in HIV peripheral neuropathy. Here we investigate if volumetric differences in the subcortex for those with neuropathic paresthesia may contribute to smaller PCC volumes, potentially through deafferentation of ascending white matter tracts resulting from peripheral nerve damage in HIV neuropathy. ⋯ However, atrophy in the PCC was related to both pain and paresthesia. Peak thalamic atrophy (p = 0.004; MNI x = - 14, y = - 24, z = - 2) for more severe paresthesia was in a region with reciprocal connections with the PCC. This provides initial evidence that smaller PCC volumes in HIV peripheral neuropathy are related to ascending white matter deafferentation caused by small fiber damage observed in HIV peripheral neuropathy.

High-Frequency Spinal Cord Stimulation at 10 kHz for the Treatment of Combined Neck and Arm Pain: Results From a Prospective Multicenter Study.
Intractable neck and upper limb pain has historically been challenging to treat with conventional spinal cord stimulation (SCS) being limited by obtaining effective paresthesia coverage. ⋯ In conclusion, 10-kHz SCS can treat intractable neck and upper limb pain with stable long-term outcomes.
