Randomized Controlled TrialTransmuscular quadratus lumborum block for percutaneous nephrolithotomy: study protocol for a dose-finding trial.
The objective of this trial is to optimize the transmuscular quadratus lumborum (TQL) block, by investigating the minimal effective volume (MEV90 ) of ropivacaine 0.75% for single-shot TQL block in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) patients. ⋯ Recruiting will begin June 2020 and is expected to finish November 2020. Data analysis will be performed at interims during and after the study. Results will be published in an international peer-reviewed medical journal.

Utilization of regional anesthesia for open reduction and internal fixation of clavicular fractures is associated with increased same-day discharge and not readmissions.
Regional anesthesia is becoming increasingly used for analgesia in clavicular surgery. The purpose of the study is to examine same-day discharge and readmissions in patients with clavicular fractures receiving open reduction and internal fixation, comparing those who received regional anesthesia to those that did not. ⋯ IV, retrospective case series.

Hip arthroscopy has become the standard for the operative treatment of symptomatic femoroacetabular impingement. Peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs) provide excellent perioperative analgesia but can increase the risk of severe postoperative pain once the block wears off. Poor adherence to discharge instructions may increase this risk. Panda-Nerve Block (Panda) is an app that alerts the patient to assess their PNB, score their pain, and take scheduled pain medication. We assessed the usability and feasibility of Panda for assisting patients after receiving a PNB. ⋯ Panda-Nerve Block is a feasible method for PNB patients to manage postoperative pain with a high response rate. Future work should include providing two-way communication for patients and clinicians and assessing its effect on pain outcomes.
